fall festival

This past weekend was the biggest show of the year for the girls-you can tell how nervous Chatter and Chitter were by looking at their faces. I think all your good luck wishes paid off-see what you think.

Chitter and Chatter are on the far right of the video-one in front one in back.

After 2 days of clogging-the girls still managed to get the nerve up to sing a song during Pap and Paul’s set. We kinda had a video malfunction during the taping-but it didn’t hurt the sound any.

I think the band sounded extra special-even if you couldn’t see us! Hope you enjoyed the videos-and thank you for sending the luck our way!

  1. Oh I love to watch clogging! We have the Vandalia festival here each spring and there are tons of mountain folks that come to town…including many cloggers and contra dancers and mountain musicians…it’s incredible!

  2. The singing and dancing was wonderful. Your girls are good at both. We had a lot of trouble with an open backed stage at the Red White and Bluegrass Festival, too. Video or still photos are tough when the shade under the tent meets the brigh son in the back.
I enjoyed the video in spite of it all.

  3. Thanks for sharing the videos and posts from the John C. Campbell Folk School Fall Festival. I enjoyed the dancing and music. Congratulations to Chitter and Chatter. Tipper, I saw you playing also on some of the videos. Thanks you.

  4. Tipper,
The girls look a bit nervous in the first photo, but they did a terrific job. They are light and graceful on their feet. Congratulate them for me.
I enjoyed square dancing when I was young. We didn’t have clogging. I would have really enjoyed it.
I certainly enjoyed the videos. Thank you for sharing.
    Blessings,

  5. Awesomely talented girls you have! 🙂 John is hoping the same for ours. Of course he wants them to like what he does, but we’ll be happy with whatever they chose if they love it. Deladis started tap, and her teacher says she’s a natural. 🙂 She also taught herself to play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on the xylophone. So, maybe John will get his wish.

  6. We were there over the weekend as well and took some pictures to post for next Saturday. We somehow missed the cloggers at the Folk School. Thanks for the video. Looks like a lot of fun. Sure was nice the weather was good and it didn’t rain.

  9. Yeah girls! You did a terrific job both dancing with your group and singing with your family. What wonderful memories you are making.

  11. Way to go, Chitter & Chatter!! Tipper, how proud you must be!! I loved the videos – not as good as being there in person (which would have been awesome!) but it allows us all to share some of your passion for your family and your heritage! Thanks for sharing.

  12. That was great!
The guys, the girls, the dancing, the singing, the instruments….all of it!
One of these days I’m gonna see it all in person. And I can’t wait till then!

  13. The Fall festival was absolutely wonderful!!
All the arts and crafts folks make are amazing.
The music and Dancing was so much fun. AND and real treat for a grandmother to see those girls sing and dance! Do I sound proud…well that’s because I am!! Tipper playing while Pap and Paul sang was icing on the cake and lets don’t leave out Guitar Man and Mandolin Man!
This family is so full of talent!!
There was a group of Morris Dancers complete with Rag Clothes, bells, sticks and face paint.
I’ve never seen Morris dancers before. They were something else…sooo much energy…incredible, the whole festival was incredible!
Thanks for sharing the videos….and I apologize for the glitch in filming Chitter and Chatter!
