April 17, 2022 at 2:23 pmHi,
Miss Cindy told it the best by telling all the Blind Pig Family that she can’t wait in the mornings to catch up on on the Blind Pig Family. Me Too.
Now I feel that Blind Pig Family was a part of my Lenten promise to be a better friend and family member.
Here in the Blue Ridge during the turn of the 20th Century folks would go to Buffalo Mountain (only about miles from where we all live) to watch the first sunrise on Easter. Buffalo Mountain is about a mile high and is a rocky bluff that looks like a Buffalo’s hump. Family and friends would gather on top of the mountain for the Sunday Service. At that time one could drive their cars and trucks to the top of the Buffalo. The service was a Primitive Baptist church Service with plenty of preaching and singing. The service was women’s oriented with the men serving as the preachers and drivers. Men also brought their guns to kill snakes and their spirits to share with other men sitting in their cars or on the cliffs while the women and the preacher were busy with service. On that particular Easter the service was a little longer than usual and one of the men drank to much sprits and started a fight. The fight became a brawl and the guns appeared. Several people were killed and my ancestors to this day don’t go up on the mountain for Easter Service. It is just to sad and to terrible to go back and remember such things. Now, folks celebrate Easter with an early service at church and lots of family time together.
Charles and I used this Easter for rest and relaxation. Parker is relaxing at his place talking to Maggie via internet (She is in California studying to be an English Teacher and Walter and Jessica are relaxing in Austin, Texas from a busy week working in California.
We are thankful of the wonderful gifts God has given us and plan to see many Easter’s in the future.
Love ya’ll,
Kathy

April 17, 2022 at 1:01 pmI loved each of those songs you posted! Thank you for introducing The Moccasin Gap Quartet to me. I will be googling for more of their music for sure!! Each song you listed made my heart rejoice. My mind thinks about what it must sound like in Heaven this very minute. When we go Home some day – all of us will sing out loud, even those of us who sing in whispers here on earth because we are afraid others won’t like our voices. That is one of my faults, I whisper sing. I keep telling myself the only One I need to worry about, and what they think of me, is God. As long as I am pleasing Him, I have nothing to be ashamed or afraid of. In Heaven, the chorus of voices is shaking the universe!! What a glorious sound that will be to hear! Here on earth, I love to hear others making a joyful noise to the Lord! Thank you for sharing those links. I hope every single one of this Blind Pig community, is having a wonderful day celebrating the New Life we have that comes to all who accept that Holy Sacrifice that Jesus provided on that cross so many years ago. He is Alive, death could not keep Him. Come again quickly, Lord, even now!

April 17, 2022 at 8:48 amEaster blessings to you and your family. The greatest gift God gave to us is Christ and what HE did for us on that cross.
Along with the old church songs we will sing today in church, one of my best loved is “He’s Alive” sung by Dolly Parton.
Brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it.

April 17, 2022 at 6:29 amAmen. What a revelation that morning when they came back with the story they had seen the angels and been told Jesus had risen. He is still physically present in this world and has been ever since his birth, first himself then in the persons of his people. To us, we seem so inadequate yet he knew, and knows, just what he was and is doing and his church is accomplishing and will accomplish what he has for it to do in the entire plan of redemption.
I had never heard the song Paul sang. It’s a good one. Another really good one is “The World’s Greatest Story”.
Looking forward to meeting each of you. I’d like to explore the new earth with you. Off to sunrise service now.
