Chitter, Granny, Chatter – Christmas Day 2019
We had a wonderful Christmas this year. The best ever, but I think I say that every year.
Granny made all the girls new sweaters.
The Deer Hunter
There was a pair of new coveralls because someone had outgrown and out wore their old ones.
Chatter
Chatter got a Christmas quilt. The beautiful piece of work was made by a dear friend. I was able to snatch it up at a benefit we played at back in the summer.
There was a new pillow…the new owner said it felt like a bag of kidneys. After hearing the description we all agreed we’d not want to sleep on it. Kidneys or not, he says the pillow has helped him get rid of the crick he’s had in his neck for the last ten years.
Chitter
There was a new old picture.
Of course there was jewelry making supplies.
There was the handing down of family heirlooms. Miss Cindy gifted each girl with a glass dish that belonged to her grandmother.

Most of all there was lots of love and laughter.
Over the weekend I went down to visit Granny for a while. She said “Yes we had a good Christmas. It was just perfect. The only thing that would have made it better would have been if your daddy was here.”
I think if I took a family poll everyone would wholeheartedly agree with Granny.

Happy New Year to all the Blind Pig gang. It is wonderful how we can have a wonderful Christmas while some of our dear loved ones are present only in our hearts.
I’m glad you had a good Christmas. We did too. The sweaters your Mama made for the girls are beautiful.
Totally agree on the sweaters. Want to try making some for next year for my grandkids – if they all know they all have one they’ll wear them at the same time. Will be much fun!!

I am sincerely glad you all had such a blessed Christmas. How do the girls tell their sweaters apart, or does it matter? The Deer Hunter’s Carhartts remind me of the flannel-lined Carhartt jeans my wife and daughter got for Christmas a couple of years ago. They were a big hit and I expect they will have some more use this month. That Christmas quilt looks like one too pretty to leave out of sight. I’ll stick my neck out and guess it is a log cabin pattern maybe? We have a bowl of clear but patterned glass that looks like it might be similar to the girl’s heirloom ones. ‘New old’ is so much better than plain new.
As to Miss Cindy’s question, it may be something like the time I told someone the “Moxie” brand soda pop tasted like horse liniment.

It sounds like yall had a wonderful Christmas! Love the Christmas quilt and all the gifts yall got. The sweaters are so cute! We had a subdued Christmas –it’s been a tough year with the loss of my brother-in-law and my health problems. Had to have my gall bladder out second week in Dec!! We decorated my mother-in-law’s room at the nursing home and had a meal there. This is the VA home here in Clarksville. It is a wonderful place–so clean and pleasant with wonderful employees.

I have been getting my husband seconds of Carhardt on line for the past couple of years. We’ve never had a problem with them and its a good savings.

Glad your Christmas was great. Hope the New Year is great also. It feels like Spring today but I know the cold is coming. I think I will go for a walk and enjoy this while it lasts.
