group photo of Tipper and family

Granny is still in the hospital. She had another rough day on Friday, but is currently feeling better. The doctors are hopeful that she is on the upswing now, but she will likely have to stay a while longer in the hospital.

Granny is in good spirits and the folks taking care of her couldn’t be nicer. A few of them have said they’d gladly take her home with them 🙂

On Sunday she had to have a procedure done and the gentleman that came to retrieve her for it asked if she and Paul would like to sing on the way through the large hospital. As you might guess Granny was all for singing.

The trio sung their way to the procedure and back.

I didn’t know about the singing since I wasn’t inside the hospital when they took Granny. When they returned I was in a waiting room on the hall where she is staying. My ears couldn’t believe they were hearing singing. I thought that’s not just singing that’s my kind of singing. As soon as that thought went out my next thought was hey that’s my people doing that singing!

I’m thankful the gentleman suggested the singing because it encouraged Granny, Paul, and me. I think the man was also blessed by it.

I will keep you updated about Granny’s progress as I can. I plan to share a few links from the archives in the next few days.

Music soothes the soul, especially the spiritual, gospel songs.

  6. What a blessing to know Granny is once again doing better! We are steadfast in prayer she will soon return home with her family. Your story about hearing Granny and Paul singing with the gentleman in the hospital hall reminded us of the strength of her beautiful spirit—and yours. “O sing unto the Lord a new song.” ❤️

  7. It touches me way down deep inside to remember the time I was in the hospital and the man who was taking me for the procedure sung Hymns to me and I sang along. I don’t care what anybody says, Christian songs will bring Love and Assurance, and that Peace that passes all our understanding when we are in tune with Him. God is so Real. He is ever present in our time of need and He always supplies. Words can’t say how thankful I am to be a child of the Living God that gave us the Plan of Salvation and His Blessed Son so that all can be saved.

  13. So glad Granny is doing better. Praying that she gets to come home soon and that she’s getting to watch her westerns while in the hospital! Hopefully the doctors will have figured out how to stop whatever caused her downturn from happening again. Will be praying from this side of the mountains.

  14. I know granny is wanting to go home so bad. Glad she is making progress. Granny, keep climbing that ladder and you’ll reach they top. We love you and still praying you’ll be home soon.

  15. Great hospital story. My sister’s husband was in the hospital and rehab for about 3 months when he was 59. She would often sing to him and when their 3 girls visited, they would sing. The nurses said they loved hearing that! Singing is so good for your soul and reminds us God’s in control! I know hearing that singing ministered to your heart as well. Glad Granny is doing better. Continuing prayers for you all. (Jane in SC)

  16. So happy to hear Granny is feeling better. Such a sweet story about the singing. Tipper, it’s wonderful that you and your brothers are there to help with Granny. She won’t ever forget it either. Back at home, Matt, Corie, Austin, Katie and baby Ira are all there for you, even sweet Olive and Binks. I know they have done a wonderful job, doing all they can. Thank you for the update and just know we continue to pray for Granny and all of your family.

  17. I’m very thankful Granny is doing better! God is faithful! I can imagine there were others in the hospital that were blessed and cheered up hearing them sing as they went through the hall. It blessed me just thinking about them singing together. Prayers continue for Granny’s full recovery, you, Paul, Steve and all the family. Love, hugs and prayers to you all from across our beautiful state of NC.

  18. The man I was married to used to be an opera singer. That’s a long story but singing has been part of my life for a long time. My daughter has a great voice and I love to hear her sing. Singing is a great way to deal with fear and to express love. Your Granny is an expert at love. I’m glad to hear she’s feeling better.

  19. Granny is on my permanent prayer list.
    As is the whole family!

    give Little Ira snuggles!

we found out recently our 4th and 5th great grandbabies will be here, August and October!

    much love, many hugs

  20. Imagine how many patients & staff were encouraged & uplifted by the singing! The man who suggested it was a God send. Bless him. When I visited my precious grandmother for the first time in a NH, she was confused & upset, her mind & physical body broken down. Her speech was changing & she was crying. I felt so helpless. All I knew to was begin singing hymns & she eventually joined in. When my children were babies & toddlers & sick or just unhappy, my singing calmed them, & more importantly, calmed me. Same with my twin granddaughters who are with me frequently. Thank you for sharing update on Granny. She is well loved & prayed for.

  21. Psalms 59:17 Oh my strength, I sing praise to you; you, O God, are my fortress,my loving God. Your mom knows where her strength is coming from and she’s singing praise to HIM. As for the gentleman suggesting they sing, sometimes we entertain angels unaware! Prayers and blessings sent today.

  22. I’m continuing to pray your mother will improve and be home soon. Also praying for you and your brothers – it’s amazing how tired you can get being at the hospital. I think the attendant who took her back and forth must have been an angel hiding his wings. Much love to all!

  23. Oh how precious for them to be singing through the halls of the hospital! God Bless and keep Granny getting stronger and able to go home soon.

  24. Loved hearing about the singing. Prayers sent up for the gentleman that asked if they would like to sing, sounds like he needed some spiritual uplifting that day as well. Prayers that our Good Lord and Savior continues to keep Granny in His loving care as well as the family.

  25. So glad to hear Granny doing better! Good gospel singing and music always makes it better. I know when I am sick or worried I just listen to some good Christian music and pray and it makes me feel so much better! We will continue to pray for Granny that she will come home soon and for all of you!

  26. Tipper, I’m so happy with this wonderful news and the singing blessed the entire floor and staff.
Prayers continue for all of you.

  27. Praise the Lord that the doctors are hopeful! My wish is to hear that Granny got to come home. Some of the best medicine in the world will be for her to watch you all work in the big garden. My second wish is that she could be out in that garden helping or at least handing out orders. We love you, Granny!

  28. Love, love, love it. I think it’s absolute precious that the staff care for your Granny’s good spirits. Wouldn’t it be great if y’all could do “singings” with the patients like the entertainment the hospitals sometimes bring in for the children’s wards? Praying for Granny.

  29. I can’t imagine the joy it brought throughout earshot of that singing patient (and Paul) for so many people. Who knows what affect that had on others as well as themselves. I’ve been dealing with my 90-yr-old sister in the hospital also but she’s better. I’ve not had to stay with her. I hope Granny gets to go home soon.

  30. I am glad Granny is doing better, I have been praying for her everyday since she got sick. Tipper’s statement of how well she has been treated by the ones at the hospital and some saying they would take her home with them. I believe with all my heart that this is true, I will be treated just as good as I treat the person I am dealing with no matter where I am at. I think a lot of times when it comes to not getting along or being treated well by others the problem is with YOU and not them. Two of my wife’s grandparents died while in the hospital, many of their nurses set with the family when they died and cried along with the family.

  31. So glad Granny is doing better! It is wonderful how God puts His children in the right places at the right times. He knew that the gentleman asking Granny and Paul to sing would be great medicine for them and also for you to hear it. I know those long hospital stays can be so tiring. Continued prayers for Granny and all of the family.

  32. So very happy to hear this, it is great news. That photo is a keeper too
should be enlarged and framed in all ya’lls houses

  33. So thankful that Granny is doing a bit better. All my love & prayers for you and your precious family.
Music and singing help us all so much, I’m sure the whole hospital was blessed to hear Granny singing !
Take good care of you, we all love you and your family so.

  34. God answers prayers. I’m happy that Granny has improved and pray she will get to go home soon. As a nurse for many years, I saw how hard it was for the families, as well as the patients, to go thru a crisis. I experienced this when my dad became suddenly ill, ended up on a ventilator and then died after a few days. I also know that if you are a Christian, it makes all the difference in the world in how you cope with stress. I wish I could have heard the singing. I bet it was beautiful. Prayers remain for Granny and your family.

  35. It’s so great that granny is feeling better. I know you, Paul & Steve are all very tired and ready to bring her home as I’m sure she’s ready too. Matt and Corie are doing a great job Celebrating Appalachia for you. Please give granny my best and continued prayers for her and you all. I hope she feels all the love coming her way❤️

  36. Thank you for the update. Prayers continue for you all! Obviously, I’m not involved in your situation, but the serendipitous suggestion to sing smacks of a “God moment.” I read a Christian author many years ago refer to such things as “kisses from the King.” You all are so very loved.

  37. As an old nurse back in the day prayers and singing could be heard all over a “horse pistol” and now it’s void of most good things. It does my heart GREAT to know the Wilson’s filled those halls with harmonious song and encouragement! Pills, concoctions, open wounds and broken souls ALL DO BETTER WITH uplifting of the soul! Come home soon granny!!! Your stint is up at the “horse pistol.” I mean there work to do -babies to hold, new mothers to encourage and teach, a new grandma to assist, green beans that need a watcher, birds that need to be seen, and of course singing in the holler!!! GET WELL MRS WILSON and rest well knowing no weapon formed against you will prosper for we are MORE than conquerers through Jesus Christ our Lord (the WORD-both written and living!) Hallelujah!

  38. This is a wonderful picture of Granny with you, Paul and Steve!!! The love among you is very evident on each of your faces!!! I will continue to prayer for Granny and for every one of her caretakers—in the hospital and her family. Matt, Corey and Katie are doing a great job to support you while you are caring for Granny.

  39. I am so sorry that Granny isn’t home yet, but God has her where it is best for her. How Granny blesses other people still, as sick as she is! And what a blessed man to suggest the singing.

Still praying for all of you.

    Pam in Virginia

  40. (Big Smile and a few tears) I LOVE this singing story, Tipper. Isn’t it wonderful how God places just the right people at just the right time in our lives when we need comfort and encouragement. I believe He is reminding us that He is right there with us through it all. ❤️

  41. Such wonderful news about Granny! I bet the sound of them singing did so many hearts good. Continued prayers for everyone. ❤️

  42. So happy Granny is doing better. My hubby & I are sitting in Gainesville Hospital right now. He’s having a procedure done this morning; Tuesday. Will continue to lift granny up in prayer.

  43. God bless you and Granny! Thanks so much for letting us know how she is doing. Wish I could give you both a big ole hug, want you to know your daily posts of goodness are truly missed! Hope you all can go home real soon.

  44. Miss Tipper, It is so great to see you my friend, that you’re getting to have a couple of days to get some home rest and to refresh. It is good to hear your momma is holding up so well to this battle with cancer, with such dignity and grace. Even though the rough times are difficult, she and brother Paul are singing and encouraging others. Including all of us out here, your You Tube family. My prayers for Granny, Steve, Paul, you and your families will continue for your courage , strength and your continuing care for your blessed momma. Love to y’all.

  45. Thank you Tipper for taking the time to update us. So glad to hear Granny is improving. What a blessing to have such a sweet person take her for something he probably knew Granny was nervous about and to let her sing must have been relaxing. I’m sure it was good to hear that coming down the hall. Praying for all of you and that Granny will be home soon.

  46. Oh Lord I hunger for more of You.
Rise up within me; let me know Your truth.
Oh Holy Spirit, saturate my soul.
    And let the life of God fill me now;
    let Your healing power rise up and make me whole;
And let the peace of God, let it reign!

  47. I’m sure their singing brought such joy to so many. We’re continuing to pray for you all.
Praying for God’s comfort and healing

  48. This is such great news knowing Granny is getting better each day. She has that strong will to go forward when times are rough and this is an example. Tell her keep on singing. This was a reminder of when my late husband had kidney cancer. He sang gospel music from a little boy back in WV and grew up and sang for a while with Naomi and Sego Brothers. He later had a local group and traveled around singing closer to home, but his men showed up at the hospital the next day after the kidney surgery and he and the men had the most beautiful harmony singing I ever heard that day. Singing is such a part of a person that can’t be stopped even in the hospital.

  49. Love your precious family so much. I’m sure the whole hospital within earshot was blessed by the singing!

I sure hope I get to live on the same street in heaven with you all so that we can visit.
    Prayers for Granny!

  50. Thank you so much for the update on Granny and of course I continue to pray for her. Also, lifting you and Paul up in prayer as well. Be sure to take care of yourself. I know how exhausting it is when our loved ones are ill and in the hospital. I just went through this with my mom. God bless all of you.

  51. Glad that Granny Wilson is on the mends! God certainly hears our prayers! God is faithful! Take all the time you need Tipper to take good care of your mama, family comes first! We will continue to pray for you all! When family helps one another as you all are doing it makes things go much smoother! God bless!

  52. Continued prayers for sweet, sweet Granny. I hope she can come home soon where she will be more comfortable and around her precious family. Hugs!

  53. Thank you for the update. I pray for ya’ll all throughout the day and night. Granny is so very special to so many people. You don’t worry about posting anything, Corie and Matt are looking after your channel and I know people appreciate the updates here. We all understand you are needed elsewhere right now.

Take care of yourself. Love and prayers!!
    God bless!!

  54. Praying Granny becomes stronger everyday and that her children take care of themselves during this rough patch.

  55. I’m so glad to hear Granny is on the up swing! Praying she continues!!!!! Bless this gentleman for having them sing with him. My late Papaw used to say music was soothing for the soul. I firmly believe that. Continued prayers for all of you all!!
    Blessings 🙂

  56. So happy Granny is improving. Will be glad for you all to come home and I’m sure y’all will be too. Tell Granny to hang in there. Prayers for you all.

  57. Good morning Tipper. It was so good to hear from you this morning and to see you last night on your you tube channel. You looked so happy to be home for a couple nights to get rested and recharged. Just remember that you are such a good daughter—and a good mama yourself. Your girls are sweet and helpful like you. Give Granny great big hugs from all of us—and let her know we are all here praying, and rooting for her to come home soon. God Bless you and take care!

  58. Please know that I continue to pray for Granny and for all of you. I am thankful
that she is do and feeling better since Friday. How encouraging that must have been to hear your
family singing! God is so good! God bless you and yours. Prayers and love

  59. Prayers continue for Granny and all of her family. Thank you for the update. Rest as y’all can and eat hearty – hospital stays are hard on the ones that are standing by their loved one. I know their singing was a joy and blessing to all that heard.

  60. I love, love, love the photo. Between Granny and Miss Cindy, I think they are/were the most beautiful mothers/grandmothers ever. We will all feel so much better when Granny comes home. That will surely be a blessed day for all of you and for us as well. Love and prayers ongoing. I can’t wait to hear Granny and Paul singing again, and I’d love to hear Katie and Corie singing with Granny!

  61. Oh, how sweet that the gentleman suggested singing to and from the procedure I’m sure it put your mom at ease and was a blessing to everyone. Continued prayers and love❣️

  62. Cheering for Granny! I didn’t have a relationship with mine. So I have adopted yours! I’ll keep sending prayers .
