Pat Enright

Last week Paul shared a video of the old song “Baby Blue Eyes” in honor of Pat Enright who passed away a few weeks ago. You can hear Paul speak of Enright and his contributions to bluegrass music after he sings the song in the video below.

Enright was one of the founding members of the highly acclaimed Nashville Bluegrass Band. Our whole family adores their music. They had some of the tightest harmonies you’ll hear as well as outstanding music. In addition to all that they chose the best songs to record.

I fell in love with the song “Baby Blue Eyes’ the first time I heard Enright sing it. The song was written by Jim Eanes. I liked it so much I convinced Corie to sing it back in the day.

Pap just loved it when Corie sang it! He told me it was one of his father’s favorite songs and that every time he heard Corie’s bright clear voice singing it he could close his eyes and be just a boy in overalls standing in a mule plowed field on the banks of the Hiwassee River.

Late next week Doyle Dykes will be doing some shows in Missouri and Arkansas. He has invited Paul to tag along. If you’re in the area they would love to see you!

Sunday September 20 at Heritage Church in Van Buren Arkansas. The address is 1604 Pointer Trail, Van Buren, AR 72956. There’s a traditional service at 9:00 a.m. and a contemporary service at 11:00 a.m. Doyle will be part of both services.

The shows will primarily be showcasing Doyle’s amazing talent, but Paul will do a song or two and is beyond honored to be included.
