Today’s riddle is from Christine.
I learned this back when I was a child, but sadly can’t remember who taught it to me, but I’ve always remembered it and shared it throughout my years. Here it is.
“My old hat
Your old shoe
Spell that in four letters
And I’ll fool you.”
The last riddle I shared was from Brad.
What is the one sound that can make a dog come, a horse go, and a man stay?

I don’t think I got the last riddle right, it’s been a while, but the answer makes perfect sense. I know the answer to this one, but going to see what others think.

I think maybe the answer is that and that the “fool you” is about over-thinking it. I do remember from childhood “railroad crossing, look out for cars. Can you spell that without any r’s”? I have a tendency to complicate what would be simpler with better insight. I dislike tat about myself but there it is. There is, of course, its opposite; over-simplifying the complex.
Totally off the subject but I stumbled across something yesterday I think might interest you, Tipper. It is the ” Mason Genie” a dry and re-usable way of “canning”.

Loved reading through all the comments yesterday! We all have so many things in common!
We are at Berea KY. We call it Brair/Breer. Momma’s family is from the mountains a little more south and east of here. Our family’s reunion is at the fort today. It’s always such a wonderful time together!

I’m stumped!! Haha!! Back in my educator days, especially the 4 years I spent in an elementary school, the kids loved to try and stump me with a riddle or tell a joke. Most of their riddles were the ones from my childhood and my parent’s, for that matter. When they asked me about telling the joke, I cautioned them with the question, “would you tell your granny?” Now, that was still an iffy thing because this grade school was in a “rougher” area lol Most of the time, I’m happy to report the jokes were pure fun…It’s foggy here this morning in the middle of the country. Linda H, somehow I overlooked your comment about Her Majesty and their outlet store. You said you were young and might not remember the sidewalk sales they would have from time to time. They would have the loose items piled in large roll around carts rolled outside the store. One of older coworkers told me to go with him on our lunch break, I want you to see something. It was looking through glass windows and seeing the women at these sales grabbing and sometimes almost fighting over some of the items. While I was watching, two women were trying to pull an item away from each other, it reminded me of two dogs with a rag in their mouths pulling and trying to take it away from one another other. This would have been in the summer of 1971.
