“Unknown to Me” written by Jerry Pap Wilson

Unknown to me what waits along life’s path before me The storms of life are everywhere But known to God each heartache and trial now before me Each step I’ll take from here to there.

There is a land of safety, peace, and joy Where Jesus my Savior abides But I know not the trouble I’ll encounter until I safely reach his side.

Unknown to me what waits along life’s path before me The storms of life are everywhere But known to God each heartache and trial now before me Each step I’ll take from here to there.

God’s goodness and mercy I’m sure abides with me though I am often in despair and I believe he’ll safely bring me yonder Where Jesus for me a place prepares.

Unknown to me what waits along life’s path before me The storms of life are everywhere But known to God each heartache and trial now before me Each step I’ll take from here to there.

I hope you enjoyed hearing one of Pap’s old songs. I agree with Chatter its one of my favorites…but then again all his songs are my favorite!

  1. Thank you, Tipper! Pap’s song reminded me of Psa. 37:23-24: “The LORD makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand.” His song also reminded me of the poem “Footprints in the Sand,” with the line: “When you saw only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.” God’s richest blessings to you and yours!

  2. Tipper this has blessed me more than you know today. Right on time! Don’t underestimate how the Lord uses you .

  5. Wow! That’s an excellent song, catchy and joyful too filled with truth! I’d say it’s a definite great song I could listen to over and over again. I ponder how Mr. Jerry worked, took care of a family and managed to write and play awesomely good music! He was indeed a wonder. BTW, is that he and granny on the wall in those photos? Tipper, you surely favor your mama. She’s a beautiful lady and always has been it looks like…. God bless you all on this PURTY Sunday morning!!!

  6. This is a really special song to Susan and me, as the BlindPig gang will know, and it brought back special memories.

I’m amazed at how Paul could pick up on Chatter not switching chords. You all work in a different universe.

Well done – Pap would be mighty proud.

  7. Indeed yes, we do not know what lies ahead. I have been puzzling this week about whether, and if so how, this earthly life is being used in the making of us who believe. I mean besides being a living witness of grace in this present time. I think the “school of hard knocks” here does refine our spirit and I think also changes for the better are permanent. Lord willing, I will see a bit further into it before I go. But whether I do or not, I’ll rest in knowing God knows.

  8. I have been playing this song over and over this morning, the words have a good message for me. I look around me and know I have so much to be thankful for but since my wife’s death I found myself just going through the motions of living while everything inside of me is dead. I am sorry for writing this but I am struggling this morning.

A lot of times I spend a lot of time listening to the gospels songs sung by the Pap and the others that make up the BP&A. Thank all of you for bring a some light to my days.

  9. I agree! All of your Dad’s songs are my favorite! Paul and Corie were perfect on this song! Excellent performance of an excellent song!

    Donna. : )

  10. Your Pap had a way with words. He truly had a heart for our Lord Jesus. He had it right, we don’t know what we’ll go through on this earth, but God will get us through it until we see Jesus face to face. Chatter and Paul did a beautiful job singing it. Thank you for sharing it with us.

  11. All I can say to that is amen, praise God and thank you Jesus! Jesus is all I have and He is all I need.

  12. Good job and it’s a lovely song. I’m sure Pap sitting up in heaven is so proud of you for carrying on the music he loved so much!
