I’d like to introduce you to one of the most famous Gospel songs ever-Pap even wrote it. Well not really. I mean Pap did write it-but it’s not famous-but it should be.

Pap has written well over 100 songs-most of them he sings for a while, then lets them slip back into the guitar case of time to be forgotten. He wrote The Mountain Burned With Fire a few months ago. From the first time we heard it-we LOVED it. For weeks I’ve went to bed with the tune rambling around in my head-and awoke to find it’s still there.

I like the phrases Pap used-the trumpets sounded long and loud; fate was the fear they could not endure; now you need not fear; made it plain in all the land; publish now to all the Earth. They remind me of the old hymns I love so much. But the tune of the song is nothing like a hymn-it’s new, interesting, catchy, and man is it fun to play on the bass.

I dare you to listen to the song-and see if I’m right-see if you agree it should be a famous gospel song sung throughout the world.

Famous or not?

Tipper

  1. Truly, your daddy is a remarkable composer. Did he never use an agent? I think about what so much of the world has missed by his relatively small exposure.
The YouTube sonic and phonic quality, in its 3rd or 4th generation when it is finally heard through YouTube, subtracts much from what must have been a soul-piercing sound heard in the first person.
I wish I could have heard it from your site but I couldn’t extract it.
PS: I know all who watched were happy listening to your bass and Paul’s excellent guitar.

  2. Hi Tipper,
I’ve been on vacation for the past week and haven’t used the computer at all. I just heard Mr. Wilson and Paul’s song. “When the Mountain Burned with Fire,” took me for a surprise. I listened to the words, and tears welled up. How moving this song is. The mountain did burn with fire! In the Bible, Hebrews 12:29 says, “Our God is a Consuming Fire.” What a deep spiritual truth I have been taught in the words of this song.
    Thank you for sharing this.
Is that you playing the guitar?
    Blessings, Annie

And I love seeing you in there playing with them.
We need to be hearing this one on the radio!
Wonder how you could get that to happen?!?!

  4. Takes me back to my cousin sitting in the living room strumming and playing with ease and love.
The words and music are both uplifting and comforting.

  5. Love it…ditto, double ditto, about your dad being so talented…all of you are for that matter…how blessed.
The truths in the song make my heart, soar and bow in thanks. With tears in my eyes this late evening…(Please, please tell Pap that he is appreciated by so many of us!) And on a side note, I am so thankful for the Internet….what a blessing to me to discover people like you all!

  6. I love it. I’m proud I know the famous song writer who wrote it. God’s word (the gospel) will not return void. Pap and Paul have done a great job with this song. Keep up the good work. Pappy
