Still All My Song Shall Be

September 14, 2025

angel statue

Angels to beckon me, nearer my God to thee!
Nearer my God to thee, nearer to thee.

Nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!
Even though it be a cross that raiseth me,
Still all my song shall be,
Nearer, my God, to thee;
Nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!

Or if, on joyful wing cleaving the sky,
Sun, moon, and stars forgot, upward I fly,
Yet in my dreams I’d be nearer my God to thee
Nearer, my God, to thee; nearer to thee!

Granny’s failing. We appreciate your prayers.

I hope you enjoyed Pap and Paul’s lovely harmony. The sound of it and the words written so long ago by Sarah Flower Adams are a true balm for my soul.

  1. Dear Friends, It is so difficult to watch our loved ones fade away from us. From watching my father, mother, sister and 2 brothers. Also my 2 very best friends and in-laws, mother father and 4 siblings to my husband. He’s a lone survivor of his main family. Here’s where we all must trust our Lord and Savior to comfort not only our fading loved one, but your precious mother, grandmother, most beloved friend too many, Miss Louzine , but that He will also comfort each one of her dear family, friends and people who have known her. He will answer our prayers for this and we must have faith that He always knows what is right and best for all. Since I have known of Miss Louzine’s cancer, and even before that, I admired her talents, her faithfulness and all her remarkable accomplishments to life, to her family and friends she’s never even met. I’ve prayed for her and was so grateful God and you, Miss Tipper, have brought her into my life along with all of your family. She and my husband are one year apart. I felt she was a very blessed and dear friend to me. May God bless everyone today, tomorrow and always. Miss Tipper, We will be here for you all if need be for prayer and to lift you up in your hour of need. Jennifer L. PS: Please forgive me for such a Long letter. If you could please read it or let Miss Louzine, I’d greatly appreciate it. The girls had a lovely video with their Granny. What a sweet thing to do with her. To Granny,
    THANK YOU LORD FOR SAVING MY SOUL
    THANK YOU LORD FOR MAKING ME WHOLE
    THANK YOU LORD FOR GIVING TO ME
    THY GREAT SALVATION SO RICH AND FREE. AMEN

  9. May the Lord be near and give you comfort. There are no words to bring y’all ease, but know your acorn people are praying earnestly for all y’all. Although we’re never ready to say goodbye, for this short season, the Lord stands with open arms waiting for us when it’s our time. He is so good! We never die when we know Jesus; we just take our last breath here and our first breath in the presence of our Savior. May you feel Him near!! Beulah Land I’m longing for you and someday on thee I’ll stand where my home will be eternal. Beulah Land sweet Beulah Land.

    When the storms of life are raging, stand by me.
    When I’m growing old and feeble, stand by me;
    When my life becomes a burden, and I’m nearing chilly Jordan,
    O thou Lily of the Valley, stand by me.
    Those are some of the words by a song written by Charles Albert Tindley 1905. We listen to the version sung by George Younce of the Cathedrals.

It’s heartbreaking I know for all of the family, but I know when Granny’s time comes she will be joining her beloved husband & other family members in a perfect setting & perfect health. 17. Tipper and family,
    We will stop on this beautiful day that the Lord has given us and pray for your precious mother and grandmother to these sweet children. We know God’s timing is ALWAYS right, but we are human to and want to hold on. She is so special to all of you and more special to the God she has served all her life. Lucky my husband always tells me that one of the greatest gifts that God has given us is memory. Just know our hearts aches for you all. The Lord bless you all and grant grace and peace.

I love Granny, as I do all of you—I know first hand what you are going through and will continue to lift you all in prayer and ask The Father’s loving arms be wrapped around each of you and hold you up when it feels like you can not stand alone(and we all know aside from Jesus we really can not stand alone). 35. What a beautiful way to start the Sunday morning, or any morning for that matter. Contemporary music doesn’t hold a candle to this older, traditional music, and Paul and Pap do such a wonderful job singing it. Their harmonizing is beautiful. In our daily lives, we should all strive to be nearer to our God. My prayers go out to you and your family, Tipper, especially for sweet Granny.

    1. Amen, Amen, Amen! My old time country Baptist church still sings the old time traditional hymns. Give me that old time preaching, praying and singing.
