cross

The girls recently learned the old Dottie Rambo song “If That Isn’t Love.”

I grew up singing the song in church. There’s a man over in Pine Log who’s become known for doing the song-if he’s at a church event he’s almost always asked to sing it.

It’s a great song for Easter.

Here’s the lyrics:

He left the splendor of heaven
Knowing his destiny
Was the lonely hill of Golgotha
There to lay down his life for me

If that isn’t love
Then the ocean is dry
There’s no stars in the sky
And the sparrows can’t fly
If that isn’t love
Then heaven’s a myth
There’s no feeling like this
If that isn’t love

Even in death he remembered
The thief hanging by his side
He spoke with love and compassion
Then he took him to paradise

If that isn’t love
Then the ocean is dry
There’s no stars in the sky
And the sparrows can’t fly
If that isn’t love
Then heaven’s a myth
There’s no feeling like this
If that isn’t love

Wishing each of you a blessed Easter day!

  1. Thank you for this beautiful post, the music being a wonderful reminder of His love for us. Though I am a born and raised Midwesterner, I find many commonalities between Appalachian ways and my country upbringing. Thanks again to you and your family.

  6. A song like that surrounds one with a warmth that can come only from knowing that we’ve been saved and at the highest price. The thief on the cross beside Jesus felt such love, even as the Son of God was suffering and as his spirit was leaving his body. Thanks to the Blind Pig family for preserving and sharing this beautiful music. Wishing everyone a very blessed Easter.
