I have a hay-making story I think your readers would appreciate.
We recently had a week-long revival. Our pastor, who among other things is a ranch manager, was hindered from making his first cutting of hay by rain and the revival. The one day he tried to cut, the rain drove him in early and he had to spent the next dry day fluffing what he had cut but got no further along.
The week after the revival he was anxious to get it done. He got 150 acres cut but the day he was going to roll it, rain was in the forecast. So he prayed before he started early that morning that he might get done. He worked eight hours straight and rolled 274 rolls of hay with nothing but minor delays, the most he had ever done in a day and more than he thought was possible. He doesn’t know till yet how it was possible.
He had finished the last roll and had gotten off the tractor to crank the roller heads up to take the equipment to the barn when a blast of wind hit and right behind it came the rain. It was so fierce it blew rain the entire length of a 300 foot barn hall.
Maybe the Lord slowed time down on that 150 acres.

God be with all the Acorns who have special needs. May He heal and comfort each of you. The making hay story was so beautiful to read. God is so good and still working miracles. Praise Him. Love the Aunt Arie series and anxiously await every Friday to hear your readings Miss Tipper. Enjoyed “Monday at Cories” video. Y’all certainly are so blessed to have each other. At this time I ask that you Please pray for my husband. 85 yo. Now been in the hospital for 5 days. He fell, hit flat on his face last Friday in the reception area of our Doctors office. Hit his head very hard. They sent him to the ER. Many other things came up including a small brain bleed, his kidneys have gotten worse, low oxygen, blood pressure, heart. They’ve kept him for observation and treatment. I’m stunned at all this, but know I know God is there with him and all these issues will be taken care of. Thank you all in advance for your thoughts and prayers. May each and everyone be blessed by God today, tomorrow and always.
I’m so sorry! I will pray for him and for you.
Hi Tipper and Acorns. I’m so busy taking care of Ed most of the time that I missed todays post. I fell asleep last night the minute my head hit the pillow at 7pm. I enjoyed the reading yesterday. It is always a pleasure to sit and watch/listen to you Tipper. It is supposed to rain long n’ hard today for a lot of folks. I hope it doesn’t cause much damage. I love reading everyone’s posts. I thank you all for keeping Ed and me in your prayers. I keep everyone here and up Wilson Holler in my prayers as I pray continuously. I love y’all.
God is so good and always on time! What an uplifting story!
We are still getting a lot of rain so I’ve been working on things inside that need tending.
Jacqueline, you commented yesterday about your church praying for B. When all y’all tell me these things I pass them to her Mamaw to share with everyone. They are so grateful that so many hold them in prayer. Little B does not know her diagnosis is terminal and she says the Lord is helping her and going to heal her. I believe that with her! The bigger the mountain, the lower the valley, the greater glory our God gets for the miracle. Thank you all!
Holding Papaw Tony in our prayers!
Praying for Papaw Tony.
Wonderful story! He’s a miracle working God for sure! Prayers for all mentioned.
Lovely. Lovely post and lovely comments. Thank you, One and All, for the encouragement to trust God. Surely he holds us – including our painful memories – safely in his kind and capable hands.
God is faithful in providing what we need and when He knows we need it.
This is a beautiful story. I believe in miracles. God has certainly given my family many along this life’s pathway. There have also been many trials, but he is always there to get us through. He is our rock. I believe he hears before we speak. I talk to him aloud and in the silence of my heart all day. I know he hears both ways.
I’m not going to say happy memorial Day, it’s not a good time for lots of people, it’s a time of suffering the remembrance, two of my distant cousins, Cochran Brothers, are buried over Cochran falls cemetery, they served in the civil war, they both died in the war, when the first one died, the other one brought him home, on a horse, 4 months with a dead body, that’s what love is, that’s what duty is, the other one also died in the war but I don’t know how he got home, it’s just a few miles from my house to the cemetery, thank you for praying for me God bless you very much, God bless Papaw Tony in Jesus name
There won’t be any hay cutting around here for a long time due to the rain we have received since Tuesday, and it is forecast to continue through next week. Kim, I’m praying with you and everyone else that the scan on Tuesday will show you are cancer-free. Then you can post your story like Ron did to prove He listens.
Shirl- It happened once (I was cancer free for 18 months) so I truly believe it can happen again. Thank you ♡
The picture of today’s modern round hay bales, I will date myself with this, but do any of you remember Allis Chalmers making the Roto Baler in the early 1960’s that made small round hay bales? The bales were about 36 inches long, 18-20 inch diameter, and would weigh around 60-80 lbs. I only remember seeing one area farmer with one of these. I think the selling point was a round bale was more weather resistant than square bales.
If I told you what He has done for me, you’d plainly see miraculous happenings all my life. I’m CERTAIN since our Lord Jesus is no respecter of persons, He has given us ALL miracle after miracle all our days. You may think I avoided a wreck that would’ve killed me, I almost fell on a pointy thing that would’ve killed me, I almost cut my finger off or almost knocked my teeth or eyes out. That’s just a few examples or better yet what am I going to do or get the money for that and SOMEHOW it shows up. He’s an ON TIME God -yes He is! He’s never early and sometimes almost late indeed…But if you don’t think that hay bailing was a miracle, you ain’t looking for one… lol
For sure. He’s a good God.
I did not remember posting that in 2017. As I read it again I was thinking, ‘This seems familiar’.It is first-cutting time here and our pastor, still they same one, has gotten it all safely in the dry once again.
Someday before I leave here, I’d like to get PSA46:01 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” firmly in my everyday mind. What is the difference between a “present help” and a “very present help? Surely it must be in what He told us In ISA65:24 “And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.” Seems to me He knows whenever a heart turns toward Him before we speak, whether silently or aloud. And He listens.
That is a miracle! I think we could all look back in our lives and find answered prayers that seemed impossible if we sat and thought only a minute. I do believe God has special mercy for those who till the soil. ❤️
The Lord is the strength of our life!
God definitely answered his prayer. Growing up I worked during summer and on Saturdays in hay a,lot. Working for local farmers and friends of the family.
Tipper, We sat for 5 hours yesterday for Moms heart shocking. They kept telling her you are next. Finally a nurse came and told her it is unlikely we will get to you today. All day no food or water. Younger me would have exploded on that hospital. I was plenty mad yesterday but kept my cool. I did say do not bill her for this. They claim she won’t be and rescheduled for this coming Thursday assuring us she will not have to wait this time.
she really needed this done yesterday as she is getting shorter on her breathing and it could cause another stroke.
please continue to pray for her. She was absolutely exhausted yesterday.
I’m so sorry. I know that was tough on her and you too. I’ll keep praying!
So sorry Brian. You just feel unseen and can’t do anything to help the people you love. We have a disabled daughter and her heart stays in Afib. We took her to UT hospital and they were so full as usual here lately that they couldn’t see her and we ended up taking her to the hospital in SEVIERVILLE. They are so crowded anymore and shorthanded that it is scary when it comes to Healthcare. God bless.
Drama, you are right they are so understaffed and they over book appointments. So frustrating. I will keep your daughter in my prayers.
God bless your mother Brian, I have afib and take several medications,to slow down my fast heart rate and blood thinner to keep down the blood clots from having strokes, God bless your mother with deliverance, healing and good health in Jesus name
Thank you so much Norman. I know you have been through a lot yourself. Mom is also on blood thinners. I been praying for you as well.
Praying for your dear momma! Afib is rough when out of control and it’s exhausting. May the Lord comfort you both. It’s hard to watch our loved ones suffer.
What a faith-building story! My mom always says, “God honors those who honor Him.” I planted flowers with abandon this week and we hope to plant our vegetable garden this weekend. It looks like warm weather is finally here to stay. Last night I made Granny’s quick coconut pie you shared in February. It was delicious!
God has never left the miracle making business!
Good morning Tipper! I get so excited when it’s time to cut hay. Of my 12 acres, 8 is pasture grass that gets cut 2 times each summer. 3 on a good year & this is shaping up to be a 3 cut year! Even though it’s my dear neighbors that cut & bail it (pay me per bale, big or small) I’m right there with them fretting about rain. I don’t think nature produces a sweeter smell than fresh cut hay. If Bath & Body Works or Yankee Candle could reproduce that scent, I’d be their best customer. Ha!
Aunt Arie sure does like to visit and she purely makes me just sit & smile as I listen to you reciting her stories. Normally, I’m not one to like to be read to but your voice is just so sweet and it fits so perfectly with the books you choose that I’m never ready for storytelling time to be over. My cousin’s heart cath went well the other day. I so appreciate the prayers. I’m getting a cat scan on Tuesday to see if the chemo treatments I’ve been getting since the beginning of February are doing the trick. Prayers would be appreciated. My thoughts and prayers this morning are with you and your family, the Acorns in need and Papaw Tony & Little B. Please, everyone, have a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend.
I’m praying for you! Great news about your cousin 🙂
I also love the smell of fresh cut hay, grass, smell of pine sap from pine trees cut for lumber and many other smells you can only smell in the country away from the city. Very hard work, before round bales, helping farmers when I was a teenager get up their square bales of hay was a way for me to make a little bit of money my parents were unable to give me. Saying this for a joke, doing things like this in my younger days maybe have something to do with me nursing a very sore back for the last several days. I will pray for you and other members that have asked for pray.
Kim, I’m praying for you sweet sister in Christ!!
To my way of thinking, this is proof God answers prayers. There has been a lot of hay cutting going on in my area over the last few weeks, just as recent as this week. I hope everyone got their hay bailed before the rain started late yesterday afternoon. On and off rain is forecast for the next several days.
