I was going to write about the mysterious Brown Mountain Lights that occur in NC. But I found this video, and decided it explained it pretty well.

I know this is an old post but I had to comment as my Daddy used to tell us about the Brown Mountain Lights and he swore he saw them one time.
Good video of the lights. I have seen them. I remember I was in my early teens, we went with our cousins-couldn’t tell you how to get there now but I know it was a long, uphill, winding dirt road. Some of the curves had been paved to give traction. Anyway we did get to see them that night. I’ve always wanted to go back.
Spooky! Have you seen them? I don’t think I’d want to, I’d have nightmares!
I guess you’ve heard the song, Brown Mountain Lights. That’s where I heard about them.
Tipper, I’ve heard of the Brown Mountain Lights all my life. I never doubted that they were actually there, a bit of naivety I suppose. I’ve always wanted to believe in the paranormal. I think there are more things out there than we see and understand.
The video is good…but I notice it only confirms the existence of the lights and does not give us a reason for them!

I saw something about this on tv last year. It’s very interesting. I believe it was on either PBS or the Discovery Channel. Mysterious indeed and a great Halloween story.

There are also strange lights in Martha Texas that I have heard about all of my life. I have never gotten to go see them, and still no one can figure out what they are from. Loved this! blessings,Kathleen

This is really an interesting ghost story. I’ve never heard of brown mountain lights, but enjoyed the story.

I had never heard of the Brown Moutain Lights, Tipper. Now will we hear the Brown Mountain song you mentioned?
I believe Nicholas Sparks wrote a book that used some similar lights in the story. And I think it was set in one of the Carolinas.
I’ll have to get it out and check it out.
Never heard of these lights, but I have heard of some in TX somewhere, and they thought they were caused by some kind of gas I think! Interesting!

I’ve never heard of the Brown Mountain Lights. We have the Joplin Spook Light. Like your eerie lights, no one has ever been able to explain them. Makes you wonder, huh?
No. But I love this story. I would love to watch the lights. And maybe camp out over night to see if I can see a Indian Maiden serching.

Those lights would be real interesting to see and the history behind them gives goose bumps.
I didn’t think I had heard of it, but when I looked it up I remember hearing the song when I was little, and I always loved it. This calls for more reading.
So…Has anyone ever hiked there and waited over night to be close up? hmmmm….
