I was going to write about the mysterious Brown Mountain Lights that occur in NC. But I found this video, and decided it explained it pretty well.

I’m most familar with the song-Brown Mountain Lights-which explains the lights are from a lonely old slave who comes back from his grave searching for his master by lantern light. Ever heard of the Brown Mountain Lights?

  1. Good video of the lights. I have seen them. I remember I was in my early teens, we went with our cousins-couldn’t tell you how to get there now but I know it was a long, uphill, winding dirt road. Some of the curves had been paved to give traction. Anyway we did get to see them that night. I’ve always wanted to go back.

  2. Tipper, I’ve heard of the Brown Mountain Lights all my life. I never doubted that they were actually there, a bit of naivety I suppose. I’ve always wanted to believe in the paranormal. I think there are more things out there than we see and understand.
The video is good…but I notice it only confirms the existence of the lights and does not give us a reason for them!

  3. Tipper,
I saw something about this on tv last year. It’s very interesting. I believe it was on either PBS or the Discovery Channel. Mysterious indeed and a great Halloween story.
Hope you had a great day.

I’ll have to get it out and check it out.
