The Mountain Burned With Fire

Everyone from the Blind Pig & The Acorn wishes you a very blessed Easter! Take a quick listen to one of Pap’s songs and go enjoy the rest of the day with your family.

The Mountain Burned With Fire written by Jerry Wilson

Oh the mountain burned with fire Smoke was
everywhere The trumpet sounded long and loud God’s holy word all the people
heard His voice speaking from the cloud Great was the fear they could not
endure God’s righteous law and man would fail

God’s holy son the perfect sinless one Oh he came to
seek and save the lost Sent from above with the father’s love To die for all
upon the cross Now you need not fear Jesus Christ is near Call on his name and
you’ll be saved

A man named Saul God changed his name to Paul Oh he
made it plain in all the land If you’ll believe grace you shall receive So
plain a child could understand Jesus is the way come to him today Through faith
by grace you  must be saved

Graham the name message yet the same And published
now to all the Earth The father’s plan free to every man With power to give to
all new birth Now the way is made all the price is paid Come to the Lord just
as I am Jesus is the way you don’t have to pay
Call on his name and you’ll be saved.

  3. Enjoyed that song ( both the words and music). You all are so talented. Didn’t get to hear it yesterday but sure enjoyed it this morning . Keep up the good work !

  4. Dear friends, Mary Jane, (Tipper), Pap and Paul, beautiful your interpretation, and with a very catchy tune, very good Pap yours!!!
I hope you spent a family Easter, this Sunday with music for the joy of the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, the same as what I went through, and from Buenos Aires, I send a cordial and affectionate greeting, Jose Luis.

  5. Everybody loves Easter Sunday don’t they. The song was great as usual. Pap -I believe Tipper said – has written hundreds of songs. I still haven’t gotten over that poem Granny wrote a few weeks back. You know, the one about the snow? I love poetry and it makes wonder what else she’s written that we have never seen. Tipper, see if you can get us more, please ma’am, please ma’am!

  6. Tipper,
Another one of my favorites written by Pap. Such a fitting song for Easter too. But I wonder
who is the cute girl a thumbin’
    the bass. Happy Easter…Ken

  7. Tipper,
Does your Japonia have thorns, and it appears to be a slight double, I notice also the little tale tale sign of red drops in an upper petal and a lower petal..Could it be a sport? Does it bloom that color all over?
PS in my original comment, the old typewriter is a’skinnin’ letters agin! Please try to figure that thory is thorny amidst the tother goofs…
    Thanks,
PS..I think it is time for a spring flower post from NC and Brasstown…
My Lilacs are buddin’ too. I just love them. A oldfashion Lilac..light blue, lavender purple was always a favorite of my granny!
I miss tradin’ flowers when visitin’ kinfolks in the mountains. That seemed to be a tradition, tradin’ cuttin’s and bulbs during visits…
Those were the good ole days!
    Thanks Tipper..

  8. Tipper,
    and gang…Thanks for the music.
Like Delores, it is stuck in my head for the day.
The sun made it up for a little while this morning, so folks sunrise service was right on time like should be. I love sunrise services, very early in the morning, and when it peeks over the hill, it is such a blessing of meaning.
I wonder how many churches have sunrise services anymore? Sometimes a community service would be held in a park when I was a child. Seems no one was ever late to the outdoor Easter Sunrise Service. Sometimes it was cold, sometimes warm. All the little girls in new hats and dresses with patent leather shoes or the first day of wearing white shoes…Flowers on their dresses
and white cotton or nylon socks!
Thoes were the wonderful days of the beginning…spring.
It is now cloudy and appears that the rain is on its way back. No egg huntin’ outdoors today.
Hope you enjoy your Easter day!
    Thanks Tipper,
PS…When can I come and get my start of that Peachy white Quince?
I have a red one, and Mom had a Pink one…The old timey ones used to have fruit develop on the thory branches. But my red one doesn’t have but one or two green fruits..I could be the bee depopulation thing as well and it being a dark red hybrid Japonica.

  9. Today was extry special. We got to see the bassist. Here I am thinking all there was, was a bouncing thumb and a white ball cap. Lo and behold, there is a pretty lady attached to that thumb!
Seriously, I hope all of you are feeling better and can enjoy your Easter!

  10. Thanks to you and Pap for sharing his music. From the Swannanoa Valley I send Easter blessings to all the Blind Pig Gang.

  11. His name is Pap, there ain’t no finer chap – he hails from over Brasstown way.
Paul and Mary Jane (Tipper’s her nickname) they brighten up our every day.
How can one despair with their music in the air? It is the Lord’s work that they do.

  12. One other comment which I completely forgot – I don’t think I’ve ever seen a japonica (flowering quince) with a white bloom like that. It is just beautiful. I’m going to have to sneak over there to Brasstown and get me a cutting.

  13. I’m sure his young’uns and his young’uns’ young’uns know how blessed they are to be in Pap’s line.
And we’re mighty blessed by the whole gang.
Happy Easter to Granny, Pap and the piglets.

  14. Woow that was really good,, I applaud you all,, and the one who wrote the lyrics.. very well done.. and you all have a nice resurrection day..
