Today’s post was written by Paul.
Several weeks back, I uploaded a video from the year 2000 of me and Pap singing several songs together in the living room of Pap and Granny’s house, followed by a video from that same old VHS of Pap and Granny singing one song together.
Several times in the video of me and Pap, we both got up to go do something, like go to the bathroom, or check on a pot of potatoes that were cooking on the stove. 🙂
One of those times, Pap went and I stayed seated. While Pap was gone, I was just goofing around on the guitar, more or less to keep my fingers warmed up. While I was waiting on Pap to come back to the living room, I improvised the little boogie I’m sharing today. I had forgotten about it until I saw/heard it in that old video.
Since everyone seemed to like when I picked “The Blind Pig Bounce” with Corie, I thought I would walk out to her house during one of Woody’s naps and ask her to play rhythm on this “little ditty.”
Even though it was extremely hot outside, we had fun doing this short little tune. In case you missed The Blind Pig Bounce, here’s a link.

You mentioned Hank Williams and doing a song for his birthday. I have went to an old fashion Baptist country church all of my life. It was founded in 1815. We still love the old time ways. This morning for the special music a man and wife played guitars and sung a song Hank Williams wrote “A House Of Gold.”
We used to sell a baby product called “Boogie Wipes”. There was twelve packages in a case. The stores bought by the piece not by the case. In order to pick one we had to open the case first. There was so much glue on the case that we couldn’t open it with our hands so we resorted to box cutters. The problem with that was nobody could open a case without cutting the pack inside. It was like opening a cardboard box full of water, no matter how hard we tried we destroyed the entire contents.
Boogie Wipes were designed to clean the baby’s nose. Like Huggies or Pampers wipes only smaller and contained salinated water. Like a wet Kleenex. The tiniest cut in the package and the water leaks out making it unsalable while damaging other products near it.
I don’t know if any of them actually made it to the baby though. When we shipped one that looked like it had survived intact, the store would find a cut and return it us for credit. Part of my job was to keep track of all the damages and returns and send it all back to the manufacturer. I billed it back to them as cost +10%, so every pack they made cost them 10%. This went on for years.
It has been twelve years since Boogie Wipes were my problem and they are still in business, so maybe they finally solved their packaging problem. Or, maybe there’s still an empty shelf space in every store where Boogie Wipes were supposed to go.

Reminded me of a quartet song called “The Gospel Boogie.” My grandparents said it was sacreligious. I sorta liked it.
A little “pickin’ and grinnin” sure starts one’s day off with a smile! Great job! And the tribute to Hank Sr. was equally well received as I sipped my coffee watching 5 deer grazing in the back yard. It’s already been a great day …..,,,
