2026 is a year we will always remember because Granny left us for a much better place. We all miss her. I still find myself wanting to call and check on her, or ask her about this or that, or let her know I’ve arrived safely whenever I travel.
Along with the sorrow of losing Granny there’s been many blessings. We are all healthy, our family is full of love, and our daily work is a true joy.
You are a blessing to us. We are thankful for the support you give to our endeavor of celebrating Appalachia.
Every November I host giveaways as a way of saying THANK YOU to Blind Pig and The Acorn readers. Just in case you didn’t know it, you’re the best blog readers in the whole wide world!
Starting today there’ll be a variety of giveaways throughout the month so be on the lookout for any that you might like to enter. They are free to enter and only require you leave a comment to be entered.
As the month progresses I will share the winners’ names in various posts and ask that you email me your mailing address—so be on the lookout for those posts too in case you win a giveaway.
For today’s Pickin’ and Grinnin’ spot I’m sharing a video of Hickory Stand’s performance at JCCFS Fall Festival. If you don’t have time to listen to it today, be sure to find time to later. It is really good! I put it on while I was cleaning house and the chore was much more enjoyable.
Hope you enjoyed the concert!
Today’s giveaway is a copy of the cd Live to Never Die. It has selected original songs written by Jerry “Pap” Marshall Wilson. Pap and Paul are both featured on the cd. Along with the original songs there are five classic hymns sung by Pap. To be entered in the giveaway leave a comment on this post. Giveaway ends November 13, 2026.
