Today’s post was written by Paul.
Last week’s instrumental in B 7th deserves a follow-up instrumental in B Minor, because why not? I made up the tune I’m sharing today back in my teen years.
Unfortunately, there’s not really an interesting story to go along with it. I was just picking around in my room one day when I happened upon a riff or two that sounded interesting, then I sort of built the tune around those licks.
I never came up with a title for the song, so since I’m uploading it after The Blind Pig Bounce, I figured why not call this one the B Minor Bounce?
The original instrumental that I played with Corie and shared last week did so well (6,000 views in just a couple of days) that I wanted to play this one with Corie too, but we couldn’t get our schedules synchronized. Woody only takes one nap per day, and that’s when it has to happen. We wanted to pick outside again, but the rain was another factor or variable. Anyway, I wound up doing this one by myself, though it would have been much easier with Corie playing rhythm, not to mention it would have sounded better.
As Pap would say, I slurred more notes in this take than I picked clearly, but hopefully I played it well enough to give Acorns a sense of what the song is supposed to sound like. It probably goes without saying, but this one is much more difficult to play than the Blind Pig Bounce.
My shoulder is slowly, slowly getting better, but I still can’t sit down and throw my arm over the guitar the way I normally would prefer to pick. Standing and shifting the neck of the guitar upward makes it easier on my shoulder but also makes the left-hand part of the picking harder to do correctly. At least, those are my current excuses. If my shoulder gets better, I’m sure I can come up with some new ones. 🙂

I enjoyed you playing your original tune today, just as much as when I heard it on your YouTube channel the other day. It’s a good toe tapping tune! I’m sorry to learn your shoulder has been giving you a fit. I have no doubt having it over your guitar doesn’t help it either. You may need to go see the doctor about it. If you’d rather try other things first, then besides ice and resting it, try rubbing Blue Stop (has Emu oil, aloe and menthol), or just Emu Oil on it. BiOFreeze is another good option but its smell does linger way longer than any of the emu oils. May want to give massage therapy a try or see a chiropractor. They both work wonders unless you have damaged your rotator cuff, then nothing will help but surgery. Hopefully, you’ve just strained a muscle or stretched a ligament in it and you’ll recover quickly with rest, rubs and Tylenol. Praying your shoulder gets better soon! Most (certainly not ALL) of that, *in B minor, sounds like [I don’t know, like ‘caballeros galloping across the plain?] …Mexico, Peru, or Colombia! The key, sure does give it a different air! …and I love it!!! (Ascending or) Descending chords then change the vibe, and you’ve gone to the Middle East (…and Thanks, for bringing us back-“home” at the end!)!!
I am sorry that Corie wasn’t able to find time to do this variation together with you (that would make a fun side-by-side, comparison video!). Motherhood is, indeed, “demanding”.

I have pods showing on my Tipper Beans and lots of new lilac blooms coming on. My little Japanese and Mexican nemeses have also returned. I have, so far, kept them picked off and kept their little fuzzy children at bay. I’ve also been spraying with cold pressed neem oil about once a week or after a rain. Do you use neem oil spray? It’s considered organic.
So far this year I have only planted those beans and eight tomato plants.
Maybe, with God’s help, I can stay healthy enough to stay ahead of all the pestilences this summer.
We do use need oil sometimes 🙂 Sorry you’ve already got the bugs. Your beans are ahead of our’s.
This is a great tune Paul – it gets what might be feeling weary ‘perking-up.’ I have a request: would you one day do “A touch of the Past”? Thank you. I had to chuckle when you mentioned ‘those are my current excuses” regarding your shoulder as it made me think of my dad who would often say: ‘that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.’ 🙂 I pray your shoulder improves soon. And that Pawpaw Tony is coping with treatment well. And for you, Norman Chester Dahlonega Georgia – that the Lord continues to give you strength and comfort through all you are dealing with.

please pray for me friends as I will be visiting the heart doctor tomorrow to check blood pressure, EKG, maybe get some blood work, my blood pressure is low at home, I want to know how it’s going to react when I go to the dentist, and get medications before I get my teeth pulled, and possibly be put to sleep, I’m also going to talk about blood pressure medications used to do endoscopy and colonoscopy, thank you for praying and God bless you very much
