Cindy by flowers

One of my favorite photos of Miss Cindy

Miss Cindy finished her earthly race about 11:20 last night. She was in a coma like state for most of the day so in one way I feel like she’d already left us. Truth of the matter is she started leaving us many months ago when her battle first started.

Our hearts are saddened, but we are thankful Miss Cindy is no longer suffering, and knowing we will see her again someday beyond the blue brings joy to our hearts.

I will share more details as soon as I can. Until then, thank you for your prayers, good thoughts, well wishes, and cards. We appreciate you!

  16. Just a couple more things,

You never did tell me, was the picture I sent you of Miss Cindy and if it was would you please show it to everybody on here and elsewhere? If it was her or if not it is of a beautiful young lady! I have another picture that I think is her too. Did she go to college and if so was it Asheville-Biltmore College (now UNCA)?

Is Granny doing OK? I’m sure this has affected her mightily. Please give her an extra hug and tell her it’s from me!

    1. Ed-yes it was Miss Cindy’s high school senior photo 🙂 I will use it in tomorrow’s post. I don’t think she attended that college. Granny is sad, her and Miss Cindy were great friends. Granny made a crocheted wreath for Miss Cindy’s grave.

  25. I don’t want to repeat the same clichés people say at a time like this so I’ll say what I feel.

Time has stopped for Miss Cindy but that doesn’t mean that she has stopped. Time is a constraint. Miss Cindy is free! It is hard to understand because we who are left to morn her are still bound by time. Our bodies still hold us captive. Miss Cindy is free!

It is difficult to say but I do not morn for Miss Cindy. I do not morn for any loved one I have lost. I wouldn’t want them back here with me. I do have a promise that I will be with them.

I hate that Matt has to feel he has lost his mother, the Girls their grandmother and you a mother-in-law who adored you. Remember, she is not lost, she has gone on ahead, she has reached her goal and she is there waiting for all of you all.

  63. Tipper , Matt and Family, So sorry to hear about Miss Cindy passing away.Thank you for letting us know this. Our prayers will continue to be with the family throughout this time. God Bless, Kay Kelley from Ohio

    1. Our prayers and thoughts are with your family during these difficult days of life, may you all experience the peace that surpasses our earthly understanding and hearts held in the hands of our loving Savior to mend what is broken and replace these last few weeks of sorrows by the life of memories that you have enjoyed. Matt, may the unconditional love you have received be passed on for generations and all the prayers that Miss Cindy prayed be answered in God’s timing and in His sovereignty. As Psalms 147:3 says
(AMP) He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds( healing their pain and comforting their sorrow).

  64. So sorry for your loss of Miss Cindy. I lost my mom in February so I understand how difficult this time is for your family.
As my mom gradually left us into her own world of dementia, I searched for info on growing up in Appalachia, especially food ideas as she had become an incredibly picky eater. That’s when I found “Celebrating Appalachia.” I at least better understood why she liked her green beans simmered all day.
It’s been almost 2 years that I’ve been watching you and your family. I have especially enjoyed the books you have read aloud. It helps me better understand my family as all 4 of my grandparents were born & raised in eastern KY.
Please know that you have friends praying for you & your family as you move through your grief for Miss Cindy.
    Sincerely,
    Teri Michael,
    New Port Richey, FL

  65. I know the feelings – pain, sadness, relief, etc. I’ve sat with several family and friends during their final days and held their hands as they took that last breath. There’s also joy in knowing they are no longer suffering and that we will be joined with them again. I’m praying for Matt and the rest of your family today and through the days to come.

  66. She has finished this life while still maintaining respect from others. She won this race and that is plenty of reason to celebrate her life! Jesus said to cherish God then cherish others and she is probably discussing her old life and new home with Him right now.

  67. We are saddened as well Miss Tipper to hear about Miss Cindy’s passing and we will continue to lift you all up in prayer for God to comfort y’all & grant you all the peace that passes all understanding.
The good news is for the believer/christian is that to be absent from the body means to be present with the Lord. So it’s see you later Miss Cindy, not good bye.

  68. Continued thoughts and prayers of comfort for each of you. Having the faith of knowing Miss Cindy is in a better place and her Heavenly Home is already a lot of comfort, though we always miss those loved ones here on Earth. May ya’ll always find a smile or warm feeling in the cherished memories while remembering how much you loved her and she loved all of you! Through the stories here and on YouTube, the love ya’ll showed for her and the stories of her love for you shine right through! God Bless!

  69. So, so sorry. Our earthly life is short but eternity is forever. Praying you will meet again in paradise.

  72. I’m praying for your family at this time. I can’t say you ‘lost’ Miss Cindy because she’s not lost–you know exactly where she is. She just went home before the rest of your family. I want to share the chorus of one of my favorite songs with you. A friend of ours sang it at my mother’s funeral and it’s a comfort to me each time I read it. The title of the song is Trust His Heart by Eddie Carswell& Babbie Mason:
God is too wise to be mistaken,
God is too good to be unkind.
    So when you don’t understand,
When you don’t see His plan,
When you can’t trace His hand,
    …..trust His heart.

  73. I am so very sotty for your loss. knowing her suffering is over and she has found peace is a blessing. you are all in my thoughts

  85. This world is not my home
    I’m just a-passing through
    My treasures are laid up
    Somewhere beyond the blue

    The angels beckon me
    From heaven’s open door
And I can’t feel at home
    In this world anymore

    Oh Lord, you know
I have no friend like you
    If heaven’s not my home
Then Lord what will I do?

    The angels beckon me
    From Heaven’s open door
And I can’t feel at home
    In this world anymore

    Just over in Gloryland
    We’ll live eternally
    The saints on every hand
    Are shouting victory

    Their songs of sweetest praise
    Drift back from heaven’s shore
And I can’t feel at home
    In this world anymore

    Oh Lord, you know
I have no friend like you
    If heaven’s not my home
Then Lord what will I do

    The angels beckon me
    From heavens open door
And I can’t feel at home
    In this world anymore

This song came into my heart as I read your post. It is a song I have sung to myself since I was a teenager when I first heard it, and it is one I sang a lot in my heart just recently for several weeks. To me it is a song of comfort and promise. You and your family are in my prayers and my heart as you begin the process of closing this earthly chapter of Miss Cindy’s life. This is such a sad time for you, and, yet, your heart is rejoicing that she personally knew Jesus as her Savior. Our Promise from God is real! And Miss Cindy has now begun her next chapter of living – the one that never ends!

You know I hold all of you in my prayers. I love you all!

    Donna. : )

  86. And the last enemy to be destroyed is death, 1 Corinthians 15:26-28
We don’t sorrow as those without hope I Thessalonians 4:13

I have been following but not commenting, grieving with you your loss of Miss Cindy

  87. Praying for comfort and strength today and in the days to come for you,Matt, the girls and your family. ❤️

  88. Tears and prayers for your dear family. I ask the Lord to comfort and strengthen you in the coming days and weeks.
I so look forward to meeting Miss Cindy one day with all the other children of God. God Bless

  89. I’m so sorry yall have had to go through this sad time. It is bittersweet–thankful she is out of pain but she will be so missed. Nobody on earth is like Mama. I lost my older brother to cancer last August but I will always remember his peaceful face during his last hours. We were thankful for his coma like state as his pain was relieved. Love to all. Yall feel like family.

  90. That is a wonderful photo, she looks beautiful and in a lovely peaceful spot. I can see why it is a favorite. You all will continue to remain in my prayers. I am so sorry for your loss.

  91. I’m truly sorry to hear that she’s passed but she will no longer suffer. I know that y’all will be reunited in heaven someday. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you, Matt and the girls.
    Diana Neighbors, your Texas fan.

  92. Tipper, I’m so sorry to hear about Miss Cindy. I feel this in my heart. My family will be thinking about your family. She was so kind, smart, funny. I’ll miss her words here.

  93. Tipper, I am sorry beyond words to hear of your beloved mother in law’s passing and yes, I’d have to agree with you she looked absolutely beautiful in the garden flowers with the sunlight dancing in her pretty golden locks! That’s a great photograph! She’s started her FIRST DAY IN HEAVEN and if that’s not worth celebrating, nothing is! I sent a few cards yesterday, even with reservations, but the one isn’t late because I’d like to think of it as Miss Cindy’s FIRST GREETING card in heaven and I think that’s okay. Words fail at a time like this, but GOD never fails and HES PERFECT IN ALL HIS WAYS! Psalm 23 often comforts me so I pray you find peace in this beautiful chapter. Life is like turning the pages of a book in many ways and only God knows how many pages are in there, for each is very different. “The Lord giveth and He taketh away. Blessed be the name of the Lord!” Many thoughts and prayers go with you and your wonderful family at this difficult time. I am so sorry to hear this news, Tipper and Deer Hunter! May God be with you.

  94. I am so sorry. I know this has been a difficult time for all of you. I pray your memories will help comfort you and that knowing that she is in a better place with no suffering or fear will be a great comfort to you all.

  95. So sorry for you all. Prayers for comfort and peace. She was blessed to have such sweet family to stand with her and take care of her through this tough time. Hoping you all can take some time to rest.

  96. Oops….I sent two messages….but you can never have enough encouragement, appreciation and love!

  97. Miss Cindy and all of you have been in my thoughts and prayers. Especially all day yesterday. Miss Cindy is now with our Father in total peace and health….awaiting you all. I will be praying as all of you begin a new part in your journey without her alongside you. You and your family are a powerful testimony to the Lord and the wonderfulness of all things Appalachia. Northern Michigan girl.

  98. Our hearts are very heavy for you having to go through this – she is now more alive in heaven than she has ever been and not in pain. Pap is with her too.

She is with her Savior and you will see her again, most assuredly, when you are called home to your everlasting destiny.

We are still praying for you all.

  102. Tipper, I am so sorry to hear of Miss Cindy passing. There are no words I can say to express what I feel. But I truly believe she is in a better place. Growing up in the Catholic religion we lived our lives knowing there was an afterlife. Now, not so much Catholic but a mix of Catholic and Christian maybe, I believe it even more. Her suffering and pain is over, that should help your hearts heal a little. My prayers are with all of you. Anna from Arkansas.

  103. Sorry for your loss! Prayers for your family during this difficult time! Prayers for peace and comfort as only God can give us!

  104. So sorry to hear this . What a lovely picture. Thank you for sharing with us and blessings to all of you.

  105. Your family is now enveloped of the virtual arms of so many as well as the actual arms of those close to you. mis Cindy has been one of the many endearing presences readers have come to know through your posts and although she will be missed by more people than she could ever imagine, she will live on in the many many memories you will surely share in the future.
You are all held in our hearts & prayers and supported by sympathy and love.

  112. Saying I am sorry does not help you or the family but that is all I can say. It is a blessing she didn’t have to lay there and suffer longer than she did, but when people have said that me about some member of my family when they passed on, it made me mad, so I don’t blame you if you get mad at me for saying it to you. I can and will continue to pray for you, Matt and the rest of her family. That is a beautiful picture of Miss Cindy.

  113. You have my deepest sympathy. Wishing you peace, comfort, courage, and lots of love at this time of sorrow

  132. Gone From My Sight

I am standing upon the seashore. A ship, at my side,
spreads her white sails to the moving breeze and starts
for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck
of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.

Then, someone at my side says, “There, she is gone.”

    Gone where?

Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast,
hull and spar as she was when she left my side.
And, she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me — not in her.

And, just at the moment when someone says, “There, she is gone,”
there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices
ready to take up the glad shout, “Here she comes!”

    And that is dying…

  133. May the Lord encircle your family and enclose you all with His embrace of comfort with the reassurance that as time passes your hearts and spirits will seek that bright star shining over the mountain ️ which lights your paths of glory. Amen
    Blessings
