I’ll spend today down at Granny’s with the rest of the bunch, eating good food, and thinking of all the things I have to be thankful for.
Blind Pig Readers are at the top of my thankful list so you’ll be one of the things I’ll be studying on.
I am truly grateful for each of you who stop by for a daily dose of Appalachia. Your visits and comments make me more determined to continue my endeavor of celebrating and preserving the rich culture and heritage of Appalachia.
I wish each of you a day full of blessings!!
Happy Thanksgiving from the whole Blind Pig Gang!

Keep an eye on your belly button,
Don’t eat till you pop!
If your innie becomes an outie
It’s time for you to STOP!

November 23, 2017 at 9:40 amThank you, Frank, for sending out George Washington’s prayer for Thanksgiving. I am thankful always for Jesus Christ and His sacrifice for us.
Today I am thoughtful of all the blessing we have. Thankful for our families, the memories of our parents. Thankful for a life in East Tennessee.
And so very thankful to have found Blind Pig and the Acorn and Tipper and the wonderful community her window on Appalachia brings together.

November 23, 2017 at 9:25 amI’ll be helping to serve some 1100 – 1200 dinners today. Last year after we served this dinner I came home and ate a peanut butter and banana sandwich and took a nap. I guess serving is better than overeating for me.

November 23, 2017 at 8:06 amIn 1789, President George Washington issued the following proclamation:
“Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the Providence of Almighty God, to obey His Will, to be grateful for His benefits, and to humbly implore His protection and favor; and whereas both Houses of Congress have by their Joint Committee requested me to recommend to the People of these United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many single favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness. Now, therefore, I do recommend and assign Thursday, the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these United States to the service of that great and glorious Being, Who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, and that will be. That we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks, for His kind care and protection of the People of this country.…. ”
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!
