As the water continues to fall, pond, and run in Brasstown I decided a fiddle tune would make me feel better-they always do.
I was going to share this recent video of The Pressley Girls to encourage those of you who live close enough to come hear us live today at the JCCFS Fall Festival and for those of you who live too far away to even think of attending the JCCFS Fall Festival to feel a little of the spirit that abounds at the school.
The festival is cancelled and the weather is horrible but this fiddle tune still makes me smile and gives a little pep to my step. Hoping it does the same for you.
Lots of mini ponds in our yard and the creek below the house is roaring at top speed but nothing like the folks to the south and east of us are dealing with. My heart goes out to them all.

I know this as a Quebecois tune. I’m liking the guitar backup!
A perfect tune, and just what was needed to appease the rain gods!
Still raining and blowing here too, but nothing like SC and western NC have gotten.
Prayers for all in the path of these storms.
God bless.

I know that tune by another name, but can’t recall it just now. An Irish name, I think. We play another tune called Grey Cat On The Tennessee Farm. Good playing, as usual!
I have a fiddle but I can’t make do what that young lady does.
The rain departed last night and the wind came up. It’s chilly here again for the fourth day. I think I could do with a little bit of sunshine before I have to resort to moonshine.
Tipper,
It sure is dreary weather but for
me, my creek ain’t even up. My
prayers are for the folks in our
Sister-state cause they’re getting the blunt of all that rain. Like most folks, I’ll sure feel better when the Sun comes back out.
I heard Pap and his brother on the radio yesterday, it was nice.
The Fiddle tune was a real treat
for a Sunday and I even saw a
nice smile out of Chatter…Ken
We are visiting my Dad in East TN this weekend, and today, the sun has actually showed itself today. Heading back home tomorrow to Brevard, NC, and we hope this weather is coming your way.
Absolutely – gets those toes tapping & smiles on our faces. Stay dry and keep that music chiming.
This was certainly a great start to my day! Thanks! It put a little zing in my feet!
Yes, a fiddle tune by the Pressley girls will make you think the sun is shining on a gloomy day. It has been absolutely miserable weather in KY, too. Haven’t heard how much rain we got over the course of a few days, but I’m sure it is three inches or more. With night temps in the 40s, it feels more like November. It could be worse! Praying for the folks along the east coast.
Tipper,
That fiddle tune, “Old Gray Cat”, sounds as if the skeered feline is a try’in to skedaddle out of the rain some’ers!…ha
Most cats hate rain. At least my “aloof one” hates it. I am positive he is a direct descendent of a desert dwelling Egyptian mummification. For, just before a severe thunderstorm with torrential rain, his tail twitches and the hairs stand up somewhat as if he can feel electricity in the air! The ears go into “incoming radar mode”, each one turning one way or other and back to the side as if he is zeroing in and lining up the direction of the threat!
He then gets a faraway, deep, albeit thought provoking, look to his eyes and face. The first clap of thunder or pelting rain and he is out of here. Hiding in the furthermost area of the house until all is calm and he hears no more! Yep, he is a dry land cat for sure! But, we love him anyhow!
Great job on the song girls!
Thanks Tipper,
PS…Now then, every time I hear Old Gray Cat, I will think of the history making rains in NC and the East Coast!
Good job, yep a cheery tune on such a gloomy day does help.. Keep yalls head above water..
That’s a fine tune to lift this dark, wet, and dreary Sunday morning. My ponds have ponds and my spring has backed up and made a pond of it’s own. I, however, am in, dry, warm, and happy. The rains will be moving out soon and the sunshine will return.
I went to the tailgate market yesterday and there was only one vendor there, but it was my favorite vendor and they had beautiful fresh picked spinach. The market had been cancelled due to weather but she does not do email so didn’t get the message. There she was with just what I wanted, kale and spinach.
I found several bright spots in the rainy day, including a visit from Chatter. We talked good books to read.
Oh Tipper: There is NO SOUND on this post. Maybe it is NOT your site now. Anyway I just want to tell you we had a ‘wonderful but rainy night in Georgia’ and attended the OLD COURT HOUSE performance! Eva Nell
