One of the channels I enjoy on Youtube is Granny Women of Appalachia. Granny, Memaw Dixie, and Aunt Cindy all feel like family. The fudge recipe is from a cookbook they made of some of their favorite recipes.
You can visit their channel here and you can find their cookbook here.
Matt’s uncle Charles made the best peanut butter fudge I’ve ever eaten! His recipe was similar to their’s.
Last summer we learned Ira has a peanut allergy. It was a scary night for us and a miserable one for him. Needless to say we’ve steered clear of peanut butter since then, but his doctor is hopeful he might out grow the allergy.
Today’s Thankful November giveaway is a copy of Cooking with Granny Women of Appalachia. Leave a comment on this post to be entered. Giveaway ends November 28, 2025.

We made this for Thanksgiving and it will definitely be on the Christmas menu as well!
My grandpa always made the fudge! It was yummy! I pray your grandson stays well!
My favorite fudge. I only make it at Christmas time because I can’t stop eating it.
I love peanut butter fudge! Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
I love fudge, that recipe sounds delicious!
I would like this!
I’m going to have to try this recipe. Sounds delicious. I would love to have this recipe book.
My grandson also has a peanut… all nut allergy and also to eggs! That recipe sounds fairly easy to make and very tasty but I have never been a candy maker.
Don’t know how I’ve missed the Granny Women but I’ll check them out right away. The simplest recipes usually are the best, my Gran used this recipe. Memories!
I love reading other people’s recipes. The cookbook sounds great!
Mmm, peanut butter is my favorite kind of fudge.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone here! Peanut Butter Fudge is da bomb!
Simple and delicious! That is the way I like it too.
Bless little Ira! I’m sure that was a scary time and glad he’s better. I sure do love fudge and have been putting off making any until the holidays get closer. I think today’s post was a clear sign that it’s time to head to the kitchen. Yum!
Thank you for the chance to win this cookbook. I like fudge on the grainy side, too, as Terry mentions way above in the comments. I get that only when i use an older fudge recipe. Haven’t made it in years, but the chocolate fudge recipe I have used before is from a 1924 cookbook put out by the “New Delineator” magazine. I need to do some internet research on that magazine.
I want to try out the recipe way above in the comments that Aaran sent, too. Thanks everyone.

The peanut butter fudge recipe from the cookbook is identical to the one I always use. I use Carnation evaporated milk instead of regular milk and Jif or Peter Pan peanut butter in mine. I am so sorry to hear that Ira has a peanut allergy. I will be praying he outgrows it. But in the meantime, Barney Butter has an almond butter that is made in a peanut free facility. It is a little pricey but it is delicious. I even think it would work well in the fudge recipe. I wish you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving.
Yum, that sounds good!!; I love everything peanut butter except peanut butter pie and I’m going to make some of your fudge. I hope little Ira can grow out of that allergy. I’ve never seen a little one that didn’t love it, My 3 granddaughters sure do.
Peanut butter fudge brings back good memories of my Mommy. I wish she was around to make another batch with.
I don’t generally make fudge. It’s too sweet for me. I like a little taste, but that’s it. I had a sister-in-law who made fudge every Christmas. It was the worst stuff you’ve ever tasted! Not all people can make fudge! ❤️
I’m going to have to try this recipe.
first time commenting just had to say I love watching granny women they are a hoot. happy Thanksgiving to everyone and sending prayers to all God Bless
Thank you for the recipe and the links!
after watching last night’s video, looks like you got a new camera in your future. I’m sorry that they don’t make the one that you like so much anymore…❤️
As I like my holiday fudge and pralines a little on the grainy side, have never used any marshmallow fluff as an ingredient! I think that it would be more smooth than the recipe I currently use. Will ponder that for awhile – am sure it only affects the consistency and not the flavor ……
Hi Tipper
Thanks for the recipe! It looks similar to my Gram’s.
Mmmmmm, peanut butter fudge! Give the babies tiny amounts of peanut butter as soon as they are eating solids to expose them to peanuts and potentially stop peanut allergies later on. Hopefully this will help some of them to be able to enjoy this delicious treat at future holiday celebrations. Prayers Ira will grow out of his allergy and as always, prayers for Granny.
I’ll definitely try this recipe, Thanks!
I would love a copy of this cookbook!
Peanut butter fudge is one of my favorite treats at the holidays! Thanks for the info about Granny Women of Appalachia. I will definitely check them out!
My grandpa used to make the fudge for the holidays! If was so yummy!
Have a happy Thanksgiving! And thanks for the recipe. I was gifted a copy of your and Jim’s cookbook which I love. I will just put a copy of the fudge recipe in one of the pages of your book. Thanks again.
Morning Acorns. Miss Tipper and Matt, Hope your newly planted garlic does well when it comes to fruition. My husband loves peanut butter fudge and plain chocolate fudge too. This recipe sounds delicious and easier than most are. Momma always made the best chocolate fudge. Sadly I never got a copy of her recipe. My loss for sure. She was such a good cook until she got Alzheimer’s. A devastating disease for sure. After her passing I realized that I had not had enough quality time with my momma, and will always regret that. I’m thankful for what we did have and thank God for that. Everyone have a wonderful blessed Thanksgiving Day. Enjoy your loved ones the best you can. And God bless you all today, tomorrow and always.
This is the only fudge I like, because it doesn’t seem as sweet and I love almond extract. My brother in law makes it and wins contests. Enjoy if you try it!
Jeremy’s Famous Fudge
3/4 c butter
1 can sweetened condensed milk
3 tbsp milk
12 oz semisweet chocolate chips
12 oz milk chocolate chips
10 oz peanut butter chips
1 c butterscotch chips
7 oz jar marshmallow cream
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1 tsp almond extract
1 lb walnuts, coarsely chopped
Melt butter in a heavy dutch oven over low hear; stir in milks. Add all chips, stirring constantly until smooth. Remove from heat. Stir in marshmallow cream and flavorings. Stir in nuts. Spoon into a buttered 15x10x1” jellyroll pan; spread evenly. Cover and chill before cutting. Store in fridge. Yields 5 lb
I love a good peanut butter fudge. I will definitely have to try this recipe. Praying for Granny
I love peanut butter fudge!
I love old recipes that my mom used to make. She’s been gone since 1999, but when I make her recipes or recipes from other family members that she has passed down, it makes me feel closer to her, as if she’s in the kitchen with me while I cook. That especially holds true around the holidays. And thank God my siblings and I still have her recipes and those of her mother, her siblings, and my dad’s father! The recipe above looks like a good one, but unfortunately I am also allergic to peanuts. Maybe I could substitute some other kind of nut butter in its place.
Hi Tipper and family!
My husband is gluten free and vegan! Nevertheless, I would love having a cookbook.
My fudge recipe came from Southern Living, but yours sounds better.
Happy Thanksgiving to all in your community.
There is something about peanut butter fudge at Christmas time!! I make it and give it to our horseback riding students, and they look forward to it! Thank you for the recipe, I’ll make this one this Christmas!
I hope your family has a wonderful Thanksgiving! <3
I just wanted to say how much I appreciate your posts. The way you share mountain life, traditions, and everyday moments is something I always look forward to reading. I share your love for the Folk School, so it’s a joy to see it show up in your stories. I also heard your brother’s group sing at church in Martins Creek recently, and they were wonderful. Thank you for the light and all the heart you and your family bring to this community and to Appalachia.

Happy Thanksgiving week ! Thank you for the recipe & chance to win the cookbook ! Hope little Ira outgrows the allergy .
Wow! Can’t wait to make the fudge. If that is an example of the recipes in the cookbook – I would love one!!
Peanut butter fudge is delicious!!
Thank you for the post this morning. Brings back memories of my Dad. I’ve eaten a lot of peanut butter fudge, but his was the best! So smooth and creamy! Something about those Appalachia recipes. Blessings to you and your family this Thanksgiving week!
Sounds like a wonderful recipe…and a great cookbook. May Thanksgiving find us all counting our blessings and enjoying the day with family and loved ones. Let us make new memories…and share old memories of those dearly loved ones who are no longer present at our tables. May we be truly thankful for God’s great love, His amazing grace…and His thoughts “to usward.” Psalm 40:5
I enjoyed watching your video last night planting garlic. It’s something I’ve never tried growing. With our freezing temperatures we need to cover the dirt with about 6 inches of straw/hay, so I just get it from a friend who grows hundreds of heads of garlic. I’ve never cared for fudge but this recipe with marshmallow fluff sounds good. Have a great day everyone!
We enjoyed your video of planting garlic. Would love to receive the book from the Grannies. Have a blessed day.
Dont make any kind of fudge when it’s raining!!
I’ve never heard of fluff in fudge! I’ll have to try it out!! Thanks!
Peanut butter fudge has always been one of my favorites.
Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
We called it peanut butter candy when I was growing up but it was really fudge.
I love Granny Women!! The quilts they make are absolutely gorgeous! Wish I had the patience for quilting but I don’t think I’d be able to stick with it long enough to make a full sized quilt….maybe a baby quilt lol. The fudge recipe looks super easy and tasty, and easy is right up my alley! I’ll have to give it a try.
Saw a sun dog in the south this morning. Wonder what that means?
According to Perplexity:
“Omens, luck, and weather signs
In ancient and early European weather lore, sun dogs were treated as weather signs, often foretelling storms, wind, or a change of weather.
In some Indigenous and folk traditions, sun dogs can be seen as good‑luck signs, symbols of hope, or messages from the spirit world, sometimes interpreted as a reminder of spiritual protection or guidance.
In a number of Native and northern folklore strands, seeing sun dogs can also signal approaching cold or harsh weather, functioning as a practical omen for hunters and travelers.”
Well instead of the pretty warm sunny days we have been having, it is suppose to rain and turn colder at night for a few days starting tomorrow. Maybe this is what it means by seeing a sun dog. I remember a time when I would have been real upset to have it raining on Thanksgiving Day, I would have not be able to go hunting, now it does not matter.
Peanut butter fudge is my favorite!
My mom‘s recipe didn’t include marshmallow fluff though.
I love peanut butter fudge. I feel guilty these days for making it because of all the sugar. Ignorance is definitely bliss when it comes to nutritional knowledge.
Thanks for all your videos and posts. I especially like the ones about gardening and food.
I love fudge! I plan to make this!
When my dad was a baby, his mom chewed up peanuts and fed them to him. He loved peanuts!
Our youngest grandson has a nut allergy too. The first time was a trip to the hospital for 2 days. He was less than a year old. He’s 10 now and knows to read every label! Even breads sometimes contains nuts or are made in a factory where there are nuts. I pray they out grow it!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, I hope Granny cones over.
Patti
oh tipper that is the recipe i use. it is delicious. doctors here are now saying they want new mothers to start giving tiny amts of peanut butter to infants. they say this will prevent them from getting the allergy. thankfully my children never had that or me.
Thank you for the recipe. I love Key Lime Fudge to. Be blessed
I love peanut butter straight from the jar with a spoon and I found a great sugar free fudge that I make quite often during the winter.
Bill, could you please share that recipe?
Thanks for the peanut butter fudge recipe. My daughter and I make about 20 lbs of fudge every Christmas. This year I think I’ll add peanut fudge.
Thank you for sharing the recipe, I will be making it for Thanksgiving!
Wishing you all the best!
Yum! That fudge sounds delicious. I love peanut butter pie, too.
We never had marshmallow cream when I learned to make peanut butter fudge, so getting the fudge to turn out was tricky. It seems that nearly everyone makes fudge using a microwave or the popular frosting and peanut butter recipe that is currently in vogue. My best friend developed a nut allergy when she was in her 50s. She reads labels on everything and feels deprived of eating some of her favorite foods. She said she never wants to be as scared as she was the day she was taken to the hospital after eating peanut butter.
I found Granny Women of Appalachia from your suggestion in a YouTube video. I’ve really enjoyed their channel as well. I have several children with food allergies, and it can surely be a cross to carry. Not only for the child, but the whole family!! It sounds positive they think Ira might out grow his. I’ve had two girls that didn’t outgrown their allergies, but they are hopeful one of our daughters will outgrown her peanut/tree nut allergy.
I’m anxious to try the recipe for the peanut butter fudge. I just never seem to have much luck with peanut butter fudge but I make delicious chocolate fudge.
That recipe sounds so good & easy….just in time for the holidays.
Praying Granny will fill really, really good for the holidays.
Poor little Ira I hope he does indeed out grow that awful allergy.
Yum! I am so excited to check that channel out! Thank you for posting it!
Peanut butter is one of my life’s simple pleasures. I have enjoyed peanut butter lots of ways bit have never tried fudge. Sounds like I will have to try this soon! ❤️
By the way yours is the only Appalachian channel I watch. I see no reason to change that.
Love peanut butter fudge! I don’t eat it myself anymore as I’m trying to keep away from sugar. Diabetes runs in my family. I would like to make it for my friends and church folk!
My wife made that same peanut butter fudge. I helped her make it but I wouldn’t eat it.
I bet the recipe would be good using extra crunchy peanut butter!
Happy Thanksgiving. I love all the recipes.
my grandma made the best peanut butter fudge and buckeyes during the holidays.
I read cookbooks like novels
Peanut Butter Fudge is my all time favorite.
I used to make chocolate fudge when I was preteen and teenager. I used the recipe on the back of the Hershey cocoa box. The trick was to boil the mixture until you got a soft ball in cold water which I tried but it either was too soft, and the fudge didn’t set up, or it was as hard as a rock. About fifteen years ago I found a peanut butter recipe online that was one of the best recipes I’ve found. Again, you boil the mixture until a soft ball formed in cold water. My mother never used a candy thermometer. I managed to be successful and now my family and friends ask for this peanut butter fudge all the time. I give it out for their birthdays, Christmas, Easter and just whenever we want to have a sweet treat. The recipe uses two cups of sugar and one cup of milk, and one cup of peanut butter but uses one-half stick of butter and one teaspoon of vanilla. No marshmallow fluff is added.
I’m sorry to hear of sweet little feller Ira having a peanut allergy and hearing he suffered and got ill, it had to have been a terrible night for his mama, grandma and grandpa! I bet yall were plumb worried! Thank God the little man will be just fine. I personally buy my PB from India, Mexico or countries that don’t add “garbage” to the mixture. Peanuts used to come from Virginia and now if you read the nut can they come from all over the world and are mixed together. I’m a born sweet tooth and peanut butter fudge sounds delicious, but I’d founder myself on it. I have to pray about my eating habits- seriously! I’m like an addict around sweets and candies and that’s not a joke. Yesterday I ordered a bunch of seed from Eden Brothers. I’m already looking forward to the spring. Since I found you, Tipper, you give me so much to look forward to and do that I am THANKFUL FOR A FRIEND LIKE YOU! I’m also hoping to get chickens in spring. You make the world better by just doing stuff and showing others we can do stuff too and feel good about ourselves! God bless Ira ,Woodrow, Granny and all of you lovely people!!! You’re the salt of the earth!!!
Thank you for sharing this channel and cookbook with us, Tipper! I will most definitely be checking it out. I think it’s so important to have influence from inter-generational friends. They have so much wisdom to impart. I value the insight gained from living more life than me. Now younger women often look to social media influencers or their own peers for advice rather than a mom, aunt, grandma, etc and I believe much is lost when this happens.
I haven’t had peanut butter fudge in ages. My grandmother used to make the best! This recipe sounds a lot like hers. I may have to try it I hope and pray that Ira will outgrow his allergy.
Peanut butter fudge is my favorite! Honestly, I love peanut butter anything! Thank you for sharing!
Poor Ira…I could not imagine life without peanut butter
Love the word fudge!
Richard
Yummy! I’m giving this a try today!!! I hope all y’all have a great Thanksgiving, Tipper! ♥️ Jane in SC
Peanut fudge is so yummy, and it’s really not hard to make. My husband loves anything with peanut butter in it or on it, lol!
As always praying for Granny
I will try the peanut butter fudge recipe very soon. I’m sorry that little Ira is allergic.
You and Matt worked well together last night getting the beds cleaned out and planting all that garlic. It’s fun to grow your own!
Happy Thanksgiving week!
Special prayers that Granny will feel like celebrating at your house!
My great-aunt Gladys used to make peanut butter fudge; it was rich and heavy as a brick. If I can’t win the copy of your cookbook, Tipper, I’d love to have a copy of this one!
The peanut butter fudge recipe sounds delicious going to try this Thanksgiving thank you for the recipe
My mouth started watering just at the title. Peanut butter is a staple in my diet and I guess it always has been. It makes everything else taste better. I think I’ve posted before that everyone I know puts mayonnaise on tomato sandwiches. I use peanut butter. My tomato NEVER slides out of my sandwich.
Good Morning All! My mom and I make peanut butter fudge using that same recipe. We make 2 or 3 batches every December to give away to family and friends. We also make 3 chocolate “Fannie May Fudge” recipes. And a few different cookie recipes. We used to make many different things but that has slowed down with age and health problems. Back then we would put together a PVC shelf to hold all of our treats until we put out gift baskets together.
I’ve been searching for a good peanut butter fudge my whole life. I am trying to cut back on sugar but I may try this one and give most of it away. My grandma was not the best cook, but she made a good peanut butter fudge, her recipe lost to the ages. It came out hard as a rock, but if you chiseled off a piece, it would melt in your mouth.
My wife loved fudge. I have wrote before when I was growing up if we didn’t grow it we didn’t eat it, that is to say we never had or ate fudge, homemade cookies or similar things. We did grow our own peanuts that we would parch/roast. As an adult I have never really cared for these things. I recently read that some in the health fields are beginning to think if young children, babies are slowing given or exposed to peanuts and similar things it will help keep them from getting or overcoming some of these allergies. I am just repeating what I read, I didn’t say it!
I’ll have to try this recipe, it’s more simple than the one I use when I make peanut butter fudge. Grandma use to make chocolate and peanut butter fudge when I was a kid. It was so good!
This cookbook sounds wonderful! Right up my alley. I’m making my late Momma’s peanut butter fudge for Thanksgiving dinner Thursday, always a crowd pleaser. It has a secret ingredient that’s a shock when reveled… Velveeta cheese (Let keep this between us friends shall we)
I certainly hope your little guy out grows his allergy. Peanut is in everything. I’m allergic to soy myself and that’s a hard one to avoid.
Blessings from Ohio and a Happy Thanksgiving to you all.
This is my mom’s secret ingredient also. This is the first time I’ve seen of someone else using that recipe. Always a shocker when a person finds out about that ingredient!
We’ve had warm weather for a couple weeks. Thanksgiving day colder weather returns for a few days but won’t be as cold as the last blast we had. Thank you Lord. As always we will have rain then cold weather. Pray everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!!
I am going to give this a try because my fudge making has always been hit or miss!! I bet it was scary for all of you with little Ira – having our babies or grandbabies get sick is never fun.
Thank you for your daily posts and your You Tube videos. Enjoy collecting cookbooks. Would love to have this one.
Peanut butter fudge on a quiet plate,
Soft as a secret, rich as fate.
One bite hums like a childhood song—
Sweet, a little salty, and gone before long.
Willa S.
Willa, I just love your poem! Thank you!
Peanut Butter Fudge is the best!
I’m sorry little Ira has an allergy to peanuts but praying he will grow out of it.
I loved meeting you and Matt at the book signing in Granite Falls.
I’m praying Granny will have a wonderful holiday season and feel the best she has in years.
thank you for the recipe, good morning and God bless all
I pray that Ira does outgrow his peanut allergy. Peanuts are in everything and hard to avoid. I am so thankful that no one in my family is allergic because peanuts and peanut butter are two of my favorite things. This recipe sounds simple and delicious. Thank you Tipper.
My grandmother made delicious fudge. This recipe sounds similar to hers.
My wife enjoys looking at cookbooks, if I win I will give the book to her with the peanut butter fudge page marked & highlighted
peanut butter fudge…sounds delicious!
Thank you to the entire Pressley/Wilson family for bring joy to the Youtube/Blog family.
Bless you all!
I loved watching y’all plant the garlic last night. I hate that your camera is giving you problems. We love peanut butter. My son had an allergy to it hen he was little. Once in a while it will still upset his gut. I buy more expensive Almond Butter for him. Peanuts are not nuts. So there is no nut allergy, just an allergy to the specific legume of the peanut. Penuche (pronounced puh-noo-chee) is a fudge-like candy made primarily from brown sugar, butter, and milk. It has a distinct caramel or butterscotch-like flavor and a light tan color, distinguishing it from traditional chocolate fudge. It has replaced Peanut Butter Fudge at our house. Simply Recipes has a great recipe that I use (and there is a link in that blog post for Turkish Delight, a great Christmas candy.) I also love the Granny Women, I’m one too. Keeping the folks here, up Wilson Hollow and on the youtube page in my prayers, I love Y’all
Thanks for the recipe. Happy Thanksgiving! God bless!
I would love a copy of the cookbook Cooking With Granny. I am an avid cook and love to just sit and thumb through recipes. Happy Thanksgiving Week.
I love their channel too! We love everything peanut butter and that is heartbreaking to hear of anyone with a peanut allergy. We will keep Ira in our prayers. Our youngest granddaughter has a milk allergy and it’s very hard to make things that don’t call for milk or cheese. It’s in everything.
Thank you for sharing the recipe, it’s very similar to mine. Mine calls for cream instead of milk, but otherwise is much the same.
God bless y’all and I pray Granny can enjoy Thanksgiving.
My grandson has an allergy to peanuts but he can eat WOW butter.
