Christmas gift!

Handmade Christmas
Coke bottle people

Granny asked me to share these old photos with you for Christmas. The top one shows a Christmas village she used to put out, some crocheted carolers and a Christmas tree she made. I believe she made the angel at the back too.

The second photos shows a group of Christmas people she made from two liter coke bottles. She crocheted their outfits. Santa, Mrs. Claus, Frosty, and an elf make a cheerful Christmas arrangement.

Granny, me, and the rest of our bunch send wishes for a very Merry Christmas to each of you.

  1. Merry Christmas Day to you and all your loved ones. We spent the day with our family in our home and I cooked a big meal and we had a wonderful time. I’m so tired but so happy! Knowing that God saw fit to bless me with the Greatest Gift from Heaven along with a precious family and other necessities and luxuries in life here on earth and even more when I get to Heaven makes me so thankful and blessed. Please give Granny another sweet hug from me and tell her that I love her and her pretty creations. She’s a jewel and so talented. I’ll be praying for her and you all. Rest well tonight. I’m fixing to go hit the hay now too. Sleep tight and don’t let Mr. Sandman get any sand in your sheets tonight. LOL! Love you!

  12. I have often wondered why God loves us so, especially as I often feel unlovable. But then I am stumped by the fact that love does not need a reason. The best understanding we will ever have, I think, is just to feel His love in ourselves. Even then, it will be a marvel. Christmas, done well, is one of those times when the veil between here and there is thinnest. We get a touch of heaven. And we know our soul longs for that without any reason except that we are made that way? May each and all of the BP&A folks receive a touch of heaven today.

  15. Merry Christmas to the entire Pressley/Graddick family! A special hug to Granny & a big thank you for suggesting you show her Christmas decorations for days gone by.
Thank you God, for sending your son on this wonderful day to us. All we have to do is believe in Him, acknowledge that we are sinners & ask for forgiveness and accept Him as our Savior. It is so reassuring to know that someday (because I have accepted Him into my heart) that I will be walking with Him in Heaven for eternity. Thank you, Jesus!

  16. Merry Christmas friends. I’m so very thankful that God loved us enough to send His son to save us and by His becoming poor, we can become very rich indeed.

  17. Good morning and Merry Christmas! God made us relational creatures, and your sharing your family is a gift. Speaking of gifts, my favorite are home-made whether a card or cookies or something someone has made with their hands like the crocheted pieces Granny made. And of course, God’s gift. But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth His Son; made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. Galatians 4:4-5

  24. Dearest Tipper,
Christmas Gift, God’s Blessings and my gratitude to you for bringing so much Joy into my life this past year and a half with your blog and videos of Celebrating Appalachia. I woke up at 3:00am this morning, thinking about all the folks in WNC and praying that in spite of all the devastation and loss, their hearts will be filled with peace and joy and hope. I watched a video last night from one of the hardest hit towns, and it was exactly like Katie explained it in her video the other night. So very bad! May God bless them with much needed help very soon! Wishing you and everyone there a VERY MERRY AND FUN-FILLED CHRISTMAS!
    Love you all so much,
    Jackie

  27. Sweet granny—my heart and mind is full of love and thoughts of her this early Christmas morning…I could sit for hours and hours listening to her tell stories, looking at all her old pictures and hear what she might share about each one, and enjoy looking at all her hand made items…..I think it would be like being with my own grandma again. Merry Christmas Tipper, my heart is with you this morning too–your first Christmas with grandchildren, the emotions that alone brings plus the memories of when your girls had their first Christmas and all the Christmases you had with your parents. Christ is born, Emmanuel….Happy Birthday Jesus

  28. Merry Christmas to everyone! Last night I was at get to gather with two of my wife’s sisters and some of my nieces and nephews. One nephew and his wife have some foster children and then another nephew has two boys , one is 3 and the other is 5 years old. Seeing the joy and happiness on these children’s faces made me feel good. I know nothing about the foster children’s past, but know they have been loved by all of us and seeing the change it has made in their lives over the last 6 months gives me great pleasure. I know they have now been part of at least one happy Christmas. We made sure they received many presents. The two young boys said the blessing and will tell you Christmas is about the birth of Jesus.

The two young boy’s uncle slipped out after the presents were given out and came back in dressed as the Grinch, and pretended to pick up some of their presents. Seeing the look on their faces made us all laugh, but it was not long before the 5 year had figured out it was his uncle Michael.
