A Special Day

September 25, 2025

Twenty years ago gainesville ga birth

29 years ago today Matt and I were together in Northeast Georgia Medical Center. We arrived at 6:00 a.m. that morning and just after 1:30 p.m. we had two small adorable baby girls.

The pregnancy was a complicated one. From the morning sickness that never stopped to almost losing them at five months I was in and out of the hospital the entire time.

Even the day they were born didn’t go as planned.

I’d had round the clock monitoring and medication to keep me from going into labor but once it was time to have them labor wasn’t an option.

As crazy as it sounds I was more scared of natural childbirth than a c-section. I’d had surgery before, but whatever was causing the woman down the hall to scream for hours was something I hadn’t experienced and didn’t think I wanted to.

Even with all the twists and turns of a difficult pregnancy and delivery the girls were healthy for twins born almost a month early. They didn’t even need the neonatal team that was on standby.

What a day that was! You can see it on our faces in the first photo. We both wondered what in the world we’d got ourselves into.

Although the beginning was a little scary, what we got ourselves into, has been the greatest blessing of our lives.

Happy Birthday Katie and Corie! We love you more than you’ll ever know. We are so thankful God blessed us with you.

  1. Hello Tipper and Matt. Right now apple harvest in Washington state is in full progress. One of our area warehouses processes 800 bins a day!
When I see your apples in your wooden bowl, I wonder if any of them came from my area.

Your grandsons: I would really like to see more of them than just glimpses. Since I watch you faithfully, I feel a little bit slighted, because I watched both of your girls go through their pregnancies. I understand both of them wanting to shield them from any unnecessary public scrutiny, but I would really like to feel like a part of their growing up. Just seeing mostly the backs of their heads just makes me want to see their little faces. My two cents worth.

  2. Congratulations parents of these 2 women and Corie, Katie, enjoy your special day, yesterday, and blessings and prayers for many, many more. The mule story is a hoot. . The people with that name are many and many of them were great women. I love both there names. ♥️

    1. Hi Jan,
We ALL wanna see those adorable boys! I tell you what I do for a quick “fix”. When they’re eating at Tipper’s table and it’s being shown in fast forward, I pause it & if you mess around a bit, it’ll freeze frame where you can see the boy’s faces!

  4. I bet you were scared. I know I was.
At 17 all alone ,because my husband wasn’t allowed to be in the delivery room. I refused any pain has or epidural, I was too afraid of harming my baby. Six hours later my son was born! 9lbs 9 oz. and 23 inches long! He will be 46 in a few days

  16. I most likely have posted this before, but I tell people I saw my wife fall in love with our daughter. I happened (?) to be looking at her face when she got her first look at our first child. Ever since I have wished I could describe what happened. But I’ll never be able to, at least on this side. Best I can do is to say, ‘she lit up from within’. It has been reported now that scientist have photographed a burst of light at the moment of conception. I think there is one also at a mother’s first sight of her child. I’ll never forget. It is the closest I’ve ever come to seeing her spirit. And I think most likely it is also the closest I can come here to seeing the Lord’s reaction to welcoming each one of his children; even me. May all your all’s day together today be richly blessed. For Corie and Katie, may this birthday be the best one yet but matched each coming year again.

  17. Happy Birthday, precious girls! My #4 child was born today as well! Sarah Elizabeth was born in Oak Ridge Tennessee & we celebrate her today!!!

  21. Happy birthday Corie and Katie! I had morning sickness the entire nine months for all three children, I even through up in the labor room. But God had mercy on me, and my labors were pretty short, and I delivered three healthy children. They have given me four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Enjoy this time with your grandchildren, Tipper because they grow up fast also. My youngest grandchild is my only granddaughter who turned seventeen in July. Praying for Granny.

  22. Happy Birthday to the most beautiful twin girls I have ever seen! Looking younger than one’s age appears to be a family trait.

  23. I wish you 2 young ladies the happiest of birthdays today, may God bless you and your families I pray. Just remember 30 is next lol.

  24. You two are wonderful parents! Chitter and Chatter are lovely women and mothers. It is my hope that someday my son will find a women with their faith and kindness. I love and pray for your family and all of your subscribers.

  25. On St. Patrick’s Day over 52 years ago my first wife went into labor. We didn’t know if it was a boy or a girl but were wishing it would be a girl since our first child was a boy. About one o’clock that morning we drove from our home in Northwood to Dover (about 25 miles) to drop off Chris to be with his grandparents. I then drove my wife to the hospital where she was immediately taken into a room. We had arranged with the hospital that I could film the delivery so I had my cameras with me. I was asked to wait in a nearby room while they prepared my wife. About 10 minutes later I heard some screaming coming from my wife’s room and figured she was starting to deliver. Ten minutes later the screaming started again. I was worried about her because Chris’ delivery lasted over 30 hours. Finally it was quiet and I waited. Twenty minutes later a nurse came out and said “Mr Gosselin you are the father of twin boys.” Since I was the only one in the room I said to her “You must mean some other Gosselin because we are not having twins.” At that time we had a team of three doctors and after asking numerous times would my wife be having twins we were told no way. The reason we asked is because they were twins on both sides of our family. What a shook. We now had three children under three years of age. We named them Keith and Kevin. They, like your twins, are identical. I love how you interact with your twin girls and their babies. My twins turned 52 on St. Patrick’s Day and Chris is 54. All three are married and very successful in their own fields. Keith lives in New York City with his wife who is a doctor, Chris lives outside Seattle with his wife and spend every free moment running marathons, and Kevin also lives outside Seattle with his wife, a processor at the University of Washington. Kevin also runs marathons with one of his daughters. Children are a blessing from God and need to know they are loved and cherished. Bless you Tipper and Matt for showing the world what a Godly family is like. Have a blessed day. And a very happy birthday to the girls.

  26. Tipper–The happiest of happy birthdays to the twins and I know you and Matt are suffused with pride as you now look at them as grown women and mothers.

I do have to insert a bit of a jovial question in response to your information to Catherine about how the names were chosen. Did Katie absorb any of the stubborn traits (i. e., mule-headed) connected with the inspiration for her name? I’m pretty sure I know the answer but prefer to learn what you think.

  27. This is the sweetest picture EVER!!! I had two children—the first child was not a C-section, but the second one was—either way was very hard and very scary, but the outcome was two precious babies. It is fascinating how the pain and scariness of child birth fades away when we hold our babies for the very first time!!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your beautiful girls who are now all grown up with babies of their own!!!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  28. Wow! Such trials and tribulations you went through to bring these lovely women into the world. Things are so much easier now with difficult pregnancies. Even Princess Catherine suffered continued nausea during her 3 pregnancies, so that condition hasn’t changed. But you did great, Tipper! Congratulations to you and the girls!! Happy birthday Corie and Katie! How did you choose their names?

      1. We had a hard time coming up with names. My Granddaddy also had a mule named Kate but we never thought of naming anyone after her! I hope you know I am teasing, I don’t know how to put those smiley faces on here. I would tease my wife and tell people she said I was related to a mule, I was a mule’s first cousin. She didn’t do this, but I claimed she did. All in fun.

  29. What a great memory to tell your grandsons and generations to come. You and Matt were and are extremely blessed by God!
Happy Birthday Corie and Katie! May God bless you and your families with many more blessings to come!

  30. LOL..Lord have mercy you did have a tummy…Happy Birthday Girl, you are making your Ma and Pa proud Gramps and Grams…Hugs to all and Prayers for Granny or in this case Great Grand Granny!!!

  31. Happy Birthday Corrie and Katie. What a blessing you two have been to your momma and daddy. I always told my son and grandson that you do not know what love is until God blesses you with children. I know it is a different kind of love, but one that brings out all the emotions you can feel as a human being. I am so blessed to have my two children and five great grandchildren. I love them dearly. Your love only grows stronger with each baby. God bless. Tipper, you and Matt were such a beautiful pair in that picture. Still are. By the way. I made your Canned Green Tomatoes and working on Canned Apples this morning. No body loves fried apples more than Sayward. We took her to Carvers to pick out a pumpkin and apples. It is her once a year ritual. I already have my dried apples laid by.

    1. It is early days yet in the harvest season but I can recommend Stayman Winesap apples, which I know Carver’s has. To me, they are the best eating out of hand apple I know of. They can be on the ‘green’ side in September, but October is peak.

  32. Happy Birthday to the Girls!!!
God bless the parents that they have and gave them the raising anyone would be proud of.

    1. Happy Birthday to Katie and Corie! They are almost exactly one year old than my niece. She turned 28 on the 20th. My dad’s birthday would have been tomorrow. So glad the Lord was with you all during the pregnancy and birth and that you have the sweet family that exists today.

  33. Wow, Tipper! That photo really does say it all!!! May I ask who took it?
Your plight and Matt’s concern was so evident. That photo could have made “Look” magazine.
Happy birthday to the girls! They, and the generations to come from them were certainly worth the pain.

  34. i understand the fear when hearing someone else screaming. i was so scared to go with my firat child that i was already 9 centimeters when i got there! But God designed a woman’s body to have children and i had 3 with absolutely no medication….lol, also my daughters and myself were all born at NEGA medical center……

  35. Happy birthday to Chitter and Chatter. My wife had problems in both of her pregnancies. It was blood pressure the first time with our daughter, the second time with our son. With our son, we were being told something was wrong, we should consider abortion. That was not an option with us. My daughter was killed in an ATV accident 12 years ago, she was 32, next month our son will be 40 years old. Both of them were blessings, my daughter gave us two precious grandsons. I think of my son, see the man he became and think many times of the blessing he is and then thank God we didn’t listen to the doctors, he was fine when he was born. Now without my wife and daughter, it would be so easy for me to give up on living but somehow I keep trying to go on because of my 3 boys as I call them. All 3 of them are so helpful to me, especially now since I have so many problems trying to do things I once could do without thinking about them.
