  1. I live for the sunrises and sunsets. Years ago I came up with a line that describes the unique nature of these daily events. “The Land of Many Sunsets”. It has the sound of the Cherokee, and describes our ability to move from place to place as the Sun goes down, letting us see multiple sunsets as the mountain horizon changes. When I spent time in the Florida Keys, the sunset was always spectacular, but you only got one a day. How fortunate we are to enjoy so many within that last half hour. Here’s a post I did of sunsets at Linville Gorge, all photos made within a half hour of each other. https://blueridgeimpressions.wordpress.com/2013/02/10/winter-sunset-from-the-linville-gorge-west-rim/

  2. Miss Cindy, I love living here too. The people are open and accepting, and the scenery? As my youngest grandchild had said many times, “Grandma, aren’t we lucky to live in such a beautiful place?”.

  3. Tipper thats a beautiful picture. Looks like a painting. First day of Spring and my youngest daughter, s Birthday. Tipper, remember sometimes i would talk about the little woman i took care of, been with her for 41/2 yrs. Well she passed away Sunday night. Bless her heart. I know she’s in a better place. God Bless you all!

  4. It gets dark here at my house, but not nearly as dark as it does back in the hills of eastern KY. I never realized how pitch dark it can get back in those mountains until I lived in the city for awhile and went back home for a visit. It’s no wonder I was terrified to go outside as a child. Mom would describe the darkness by saying, “I couldn’t see my hand in front of my face.”

  5. In the county where I grew up there was a coal camp down in a holler so dark young girls would marryk in part just to get out. The older I get the more I like the light. You all are fortunate to have both mountains and open valleys.
