I’m sharing the last of the Thankful November winners today. I really appreciate everyone who participated in the annual event. We enjoy doing this small token of appreciation for you since you all do so much for us.
The winner of The Pressley Girls cd is Pamela Danner who said: “Our family has members that are very musically inclined. Our youngest daughter has been a band director for over 20 years and her students love her, she is also in the Treasure Coast Orchestra for many years, in fact they just honored her. I had an uncle who was into country music. We have a grandson who is learning the guitar, and grandson-in-law in a rock band and wants to pursue music production and a great-grandson who loves to beat on the drums. People who can play instruments, sing and read music are blessed indeed. Your family are very talented and blessed.”
The winner of Mommy Goose: Rhymes from the Mountains written by Mike Norris is CherylW who said: “The more I think about it, the more I would like this book just for me. With the kids and grandkids up and gone everywhere but around here, this would keep a smile on my face for sure. I know you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving.”
The winner of A Foxfire Christmas is Tamela who said: “My parents square danced at the school cafeteria. in between games of hide-and-seek, climbing on the monkey bars, & pretending to smoke the stubs the men thought they had ground out with the heels of their boots during breaks, we (mostly the girls) would sometimes dance our version of square dancing on the playground. We might join hands skipping in a big circle, hook elbows & take a spin, or do a semblance of a “do si do” with whoever was if a like mind.
During my Jr. Hi years, parents of one of my fellow students sponsored square dances for the youth. They owned a motor lodge and would clear the parking area mid-week for the dances. Their weekend guests were gone & their longer term guests obligingly moved their cars (if they had one), then pulled a chair from their room to watch. They would occasionally comment, cheer, tease, or jokingly play matchmaker to the embarrassment of the youth dancing. Those were good times now fondly remembered.”
There are a couple of winners I haven’t heard from yet.
The winner of the cd The Wilson Brothers At the John C. Campbell Folk School & On Radio is Pat Lavender who said: “There is nothing better than the old time folk music! I could listen to this forever. Such a treat.”
The winner of the cd Shepherd Of My Soul with a cracked case is Barbara Parker who said: “Good music and good talking. Thanks for sharing this.”
The winner of flawed copy of Celebrating Southern Appalachian Food written by Jim Casada and Tipper Pressley is Patricia H who said: “I’ve been wanting your cookbook for quite some time and would be very thankful for a copy.”
Winners please send your mailing address to me at blindpigandtheacorn@gmail.com and I’ll get your book or cd to you.

I remember the little country stores. So much fun to visit as a child.
I enjoyed your Christmas stories! So much fun to listen to you read!
Congratulations to everyone! Bless Tipper for always sharing so many wonderful things!
So fun!!
Congratulations to everyone who won a special prize from Tipper. It’s so sweet that she takes time out of her busy life to have Thankful November each year.
I enjoyed the story you read last evening. I lived across the road from a little country store that sold basic groceries, hand sliced bologna and cheese, and penny candy. It had a pot-bellied coal stove in the middle where, mostly men from our tiny town, would sit around talking on cold winter days. There was a pinball machine in the corner where kids spent their precious coins to play. I remember the tiny paper sacks that held five pieces of candy if you were lucky enough to have a nickel to spend. Those were the good old days for sure.
Congratulations to all the winners! Tipper, you will never truly know the joy you bring us old folks (and others) as you prompt us to remember the good ole days, bringing forward wonderful memories. I really enjoy reading the comments as well. I hope you all (including your subscribers) have a safe & Wonderful Christmas! Tipper, you & your family are loved by many. Prayers continue for precious Granny.
Congratulations to all of the winners!!!
Congratulations to all the winners! And congratulations to you as well, Tipper. Your deliberate good will – your courtesy, generosity, sensitivity, humor, and work ethic – shine very bright indeed. May God reward you for it all.
Good morning Tipper.
Congratulations to all the winners.
My wife and I spent this week up in Ashe and Watauga counties, beautiful as always.
Had to leave yesterday morning, the wind chill was -2. That’s mighty cold for this old flatlander. This morning here at home we woke up to 20 degrees. Anyway always enjoy visiting the most beautiful place on earth, the Appalachian Mountains.
congratulations to all the winners, I myself have been a winner, God bless each and everyone of you, Norman Chester Dahlonega Georgia
Congratulations to all the winners throughout November! What a blessing Tipper and her family is to us through her blog and all the YouTube videos. Thank you Tipper, Matt, Katie, Corie, Paul and Granny. You are all dear to us. Love and prayers to you all!❤️
Thank you, Tipper, for Thankful November. It is always a lot of fun. And an enormous thank you for continuing to write your daily blog. So many of us look forward to it every morning. And I look forward to Randy’s comments almost as much as your blog! I look back on the “good ‘ole days” often, also. I wish I had had the brains to realize them for what they were at the time, and known how much those memories would mean to me so much later. Prayers for Granny and your family always. Have a very blessed and special Christmas!
Congratulations to all winners!
Congratulations to the winners. Prayers and blessings to all.
Congratulations to all of the winners and thank you Tipper for doing this. I was a lucky winner of the Appalachian Values book and have enjoyed it. I can relate much of my life to things said in the book. The words “Country Store” of today’s video bring back many good happy memories to me. In the years of my life, I have known of many mom and pop owned country stores in my area. The lady co owner of the last general merchandise/hardware store country store in my area died about 2 months ago. The store closed abut 10 years ago. The name of the store was C&K but everyone referred to it as “The Store.” At her funeral it was said by her daughter that her parents considered their customers as friends and family and this was their reason (not needing the money) for keeping the store open until their health would no longer allow them to keep it open. One of my memories of these country stores is the respect shown to women and children by the men that were usually hanging out around these stores. Now there’s a modern day convenience store 5 miles away, for anything else I have to drive 15 miles to the nearest town. This is as close as I ever want to live in a town or city. I want to add this to my statement of being family at this store, the lady owner, Mrs Earlene, would always give the younger children of our community a candy bar on their birthday and on Halloween.
Congratulations to all the winners this year! It’s so kind & thoughtful of you to pass these treasures on to your subscribers each year. Praying for a good 2025 for you & your family & especially for Granny.
Congrats to all the winners. Love this blog!
