  8. Merry Christmas to all. I suspect that many will, like me, find their heart harkening homeward to our beloved high country on this day. The lyrics from a World War II which spoke for military men and women on that subject, reminding them and their loved ones “I’ll be home for Christmas, if only in my dreams,” remains timeless.

For us with mountain roots, there’s something enduring and endearing about the call of our highland homeland, while for those born elsewhere the lure of the Smokies and Southern Appalachians in palpable and powerful. Tipper, thanks for reminding us of that fact each day, and best wishes of the season to you, your family, and all your readers.

  9. And a most Merry Christmas to Granny, Steve & family, Paul, the Deerslayer, Chatter, Chitter, and our beloved Mary Jane from their cousin, over on the Black Hill home in Bryson City that’s getting close to twelve decades old.

I’m sure the older posts are chosen by a computer using some random process, but one of those which came up today for me was your post from February 5, 2012, the anniversary of our trip up Juneywhank Branch to toast a drink of spring water to Daddy, who along with Pap, has left us to come and adore Him, Christ the Lord, whose birth, this day, we celebrate.

Merry Christmas to all who love the wonderful work of our ever faithful Tipper.
