I grew up in the country & watching your videos & reading your blog brings back memories of growing up & being outside (cooking on the woodstove, working in the garden, getting the eggs, or just playing) & the days of not being in a hurry to go nowhere.

Thank you for letting us into your world. (So we can remember ours)

  19. Happy New Year, Tipper, and to all of the Blind Pig and the Acorn readers!! I have no resolutions to begin the year with. My desire for 2023 is to keep my focus on God. I want to be in His will and plan for my life. His hand alone will guide me through the ups and downs this year has waiting for me. I need nothing else, because with Jesus as my Savior, I am rich beyond anything this world has to offer. And that is what makes me smile all the day long! It is my prayer that every one here knows that Blessed Assurance, too. And if they don’t, that by visiting the Blind Pig blog, their hearts and minds will see that the richness in this Appalachian culture that Tipper and the Blind Pig readers share here, is cemented in the personal faith and trust in God that the people of this region thrived on. It is what made them strong, and gave them the happiness and joy in the traditions they passed on to the following generations. God is so good!

    1. I say AMEN to everything you have said in your comment. I intend to start the year off by going to the old country church I have attended all of my life, listening to the sermon, and enjoy being with some of my lifelong Christian friends.

      1. Randy – there is no better way to spend any day but with God, soaking in His Word to us, and sharing our time with the people we are blessed to know!!

Today is my parent’s wedding anniversary. I thanked them for getting married – just so they could have me! My Dad roared with laughter – my parents have six children, five living. I am the one they got their grey hair from the most.

Every moment of our day is a blessing, even the ones with trials. God has given us the people in our lives to make those moments not only memorable with all the goodness we enjoy with them, but to help us grow stronger in our own walk towards Heaven!

I loved your comment on how you are spending your first day of this new year!!!

        Donna. : )

        1. Thank you, Donna I attend church regularly throughout the year but thought today being the first day of the year was an especially good way to start out a new year. My parents wedding anniversary would have been on Dec.21. Daddy would joke and tease mother by saying he wanted his honeymoon to be on the longest night of the year. Donna older people do not have gray hair, it is mature blond! My older sister that died at birth was named Donna Marie.

          1. Randy, I am so sorry that you did not have your sister to grow up with. My brother, Bobby, passed away at 6 hours old, and I have always missed growing up with him. I do know I will see him in heaven one day! We will have eternity to spend with our missing siblings, however, we know that beyond a doubt. It is always sad when a baby dies, but in my heart I always think how they are most assuredly in heaven. If they had lived to be senior citizens, it would always be our prayer they accepted Christ in their lifetime, but being babies, we have that guarantee they are with Jesus!! I have two other brothers and two sisters I did get to grow up with, though. I love your description of the color of hair!! I hope you have a great evening and wonderful week!

            Donna. : )
