plum tart

One of the best things about summer is the abundance of fresh fruit. An easy tasty way to use some of that sweet goodness is to make fruit tarts.

The recipe couldn’t be easier. You can use whatever fruit you prefer, but plums, peaches, pears, and apples work especially well.

You’ll need one sheet of puff pastry thawed, fruit of choice, honey, and sugar.

Cut pastry into squares and place on greased baking sheet—or use parchment paper to line pan. Prick pastry with fork to prevent it from over puffing. Lay fruit on each square, leaving a slight border. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 425 degrees for 20-25 minutes or till light golden brown. Drizzle with honey just before serving.

Not only are the tarts easy and quick to make, I think they look especially pretty too. The tarts are so tasty they make a great dessert. They also work well for breakfast.

  1. Thank you Tipper for all your delicious recipes. I will definitely try this tart recipe. I tried your cobbler recipe. It came out delicious . I did substitute strawberries for the peaches. My husband isn’t crazy about peaches. He’s one of the few !

  2. I bought a frozen puff pastry about a year ago. I had a recipe in mind but forgot what it was. Now I’ll quit worrying about and make this recipe, if I don’t forget again. Ask me in a couple of weeks if I made it!

  3. Those look wonderful! When I’m over I always check to see what homemade goodies you have on the counter and have a sample. I must have missed the day you made these Sumer Time Tarts, darn it!

  4. This would be great with a breakfast of eggs and sausage/bacon/or ham! Thank you for this wonderful recipe and idea. I am always looking for ways to vary my breakfast. I have been getting tired of the same old thing lately = scrambled eggs, a piece of meat, some kind of toast/bread, fruit. My plate looks the same every morning. I need a change of plate scenery!! I hope you are having a great day, and this week will be wonderful!!

    Donna. : )

  5. I would eat those if I was alone or with somebody. I know they aren’t quite the very same but they remind me of fried pies. I’m thinking these would be healthier than a more sugary, buttery pastry to (or Krispy Kremes!) with lots more calories.

And for locally grown it is apple season again!

  6. Tipper, you are THE hostess with the mostest! That tart is indeed a pretty little thing and looks quite tasty too!!! I think all children would love to get in on making and eating these tarts. It looks fun and not too difficult to make. Thanks from RAINY WV. Out of 10 days it did not rain 1. I’m sick to death of rain and am actually considering moving because of it. I think I’m gonna trek to the Grand Canyon, 4 corners and then UTAH. It’s looking like a place to settle in southern Utah close to Arizona… KANAB if you care to see in a map.

  7. So many people just don’t realize how much work is involved in raising your own food. It’s good to see you have a helper . Nothing tastes better than the fresh vegetables especially when you have raised them yourselves ☺

  8. Thank you for this idea! I have some peaches and this would be a great way to use a couple. I love easy desserts in the summertime.
Our garden has been keeping me busy with canning something pretty much everyday. Lately it’s been the tomatoes so I’ve been making spaghetti sauce. I’ve canned over 30 quarts and pints of greenbeans as well.
    Have a blessed day!!

  9. Thanks for that ‘easy-to-make’ dessert. In watching you two harvesting, I couldn’t help but notice the plant behind you. When I lived in Blue Ridge, my neighbor introduced me to Joe Pye weed. Being from Florida, I had never seen this plant and she explained how when you see them sprout and flower in the fall, according to folk lore, you could tell by how early they bloomed the indication of the winter yet to come. If, already blooming, does that mean we are in for a cold cold winter?..I think they are beautiful and will try to keep track of yours and how our winter will be, even down here in upstate Florida. Thanks again for sharing, I always love yours and Matt’s refreshment. Because of you two I have rediscovered that treat. God Bless
