Sunset in the mountains

Today I’m sharing my newest favorite song with you. Chatter wrote it—she tells more about the writing process in the video.

Chatter and Chitter are both songwriters. They come by it naturally. Both Pap and Paul have written a lot of songs. Their Papaw Tony has written songs too, albeit they are mostly on the extremely humorous side.

I think the songs the gifted members of my family have written are good enough for the big time. But from what I understand getting your songs in front of someone today is pretty much impossible unless you make it big yourself.

Ages ago I was a show where Pap and his brother Ray were playing. The opening act was a man who was a songwriter. I can’t remember his name, but he had enjoyed some success. I remember him saying one of the songs he wrote was made a hit by Patty Loveless and that he still earned royalties from it.

I really enjoy the encouraging hopefulness in Chatter’s song. I hope you did to!

  3. A beautiful song which I love. I have played it over and over. Do post the words for I am not sure of each one with the accent. I reckon being a damn Yankee I have a little bit of trouble with your accent. I bet I have already played this song so many times now and I would love to buy your record. Thanks for not giving this song up and hopefully it will be a big hit one day as it deserves. Thank you

His patience for me will see me through this life. And someday, despite all my faults and mess ups, I hope to hear Him say “Well done, good and faithful servant!”.

  9. Chatter, I like the song and the singing. There are poems I’ve been writing for 20 years. Sometimes it doesn’t take long to write them, but a long time to live them. Never rush. The blocked part will clear in a while. A poet I know of said, “First it’s a feeling the vaguer the better, then the feeling finds its thought, the thought finds its words, and the form (song, rhythm, rhymes) are last. That was Robert Frost.

  10. What a beautiful song! It brought a tear to my eyes… lovely words & music, and a beautiful voice to sing it. He is faithful and invested in every aspect of our lives…

  11. My hearing is bad, especially with certain pitches. I liked what I could understand, nothing against Chatter. Would it be to much trouble to post the lyrics to the song? I think they would have a lot of meaning for me. I also think there are many good musicians and songwriters out there that are as good or even better than the one we hear off that never got their break to make it big. I have been told by some that have been there, some of the sidewalk shows or musicians in Nashville are as good or better than the ones you pay to see, but the ones doing them have not gotten the break needed to make the big time.

    1. I should have said tones instead of pitches. And I see I messed up again, it should be even better than the ones we hear of.

  12. That was a really great song! It had me in tears!! I am a songwriter as well, and usually they just come to me, but I understand the ones that take longer. My best one is called Lyin, Cheatin Cowboy. God Bless you and your family Tipper!! From all the way over in the other mountains in Colorado.

  13. You and me both, Corie. By nature I want to understand behind all appearances, not just the what but the why. That desire by itself can be a burden at times. There are, I think, relatively few natured that way. The answer to your seeking is for each person to find for themselves in a gradual unfolding. I think you already see it, just not as clearly as you would like. You know where to look though so be of good cheer, you will find it. No other person can give it to you because it will not satisfy. If it comes that way it will slide off your mind and your heart.

As you can tell, your song appeals very much to me. If I were a songwriter, that would be the kind of song I would write; seeker songs I guess they could be called. You got my mind going this morning. Lord knows where it will take me. Bless you, you kindred spirit.

  14. That’s a very nice song, Chatter. I bet it will be famous one day! All of your family are talented in one way or another. I think it’s pretty amazing!

  15. You are so Blessed with so much natural talent in you whole family. Thank you for sharing. God Bless.

  16. Such a beautiful song and it speaks how I feel sometimes. Thankfully God is always waiting patiently for me to look up, seek Him and He faithfully lifts the burdens I bear. I watched her video when it first came out and it blessed me then as it has blessed me this morning. Thank you for sharing her beautiful talent with us.
