Cd cover art for Live to Never Die

We’ve been pleased by the response to Paul’s latest cd which is a compilation of Pap’s original songs plus five classic hymns.

As you might imagine I’ve listened to it pretty much nonstop since we got the cds. I just love it!

Paul did a tremendous job on the recording as well as the way he put it all together. Even the flow of the songs on the track list is just perfect.

If you’ve followed along with the progress of the cd you’ve likely heard some of the tracks already. If not here’s a few links for you to visit.

In the liner notes Paul shares information about each of the songs. Here’s the details of the song I’m sharing today.

“Pap wrote “Let Me Live for God” in the late ’60’s or early ’70s. He and I used to sing it when I was a teenager, but I always struggled with the low part on the chorus. I always liked how the verses were slow and the chorus was fast. This is the last recording that Pap ever made. He recorded his tenor approximately two weeks before he passed. Listeners may notice more vibrato and slightly less strength in his vocal, though his pitch and timing were still great, just a couple months shy of this 79th birthday. When Pap and I recorded this song, along with “Heaven’s Brightest Glory” a couple weeks prior, we really had no plan of making a new album. We just wanted to hear what these songs sounded like. I am so thankful that we recorded them while he was still here.”

I hope you enjoyed hearing Pap’s song. If you’d like to pick up a copy of the cd go here.

  6. I hear in those words another expression of the apostle Paul’s desire that “in nothing I shall be ashamed but that now also, as always, Christ shall be magnified in my body whether it be by life or by death.” (If correctly recalled) We do want to finish well. 1. I’m still here! I’ve decided my name appears too much on Tipper’s blog. I’m on a hiatus, if that’s the proper terminology. I start every day with, first my morning prayer, then the Blind Pig and the Acorn and coffee. Those two things often determine the rest of my day. Thanks for inquiring about me. I am OK, sorta!
