There’s a road that’s straight and narrow
That the saints have travelled on
Paved with all the tribulations
Of the martyrs who have gone
If you’re grateful for their victories
And for showing us the way
Then give thanks for all your blessings
Get on your knees and pray.
Thank God for every flower and each tree
Thank God for the mountains and the seas
Thank God for giving life to you and me
Wherever you may be, Thank God.
In this world of grief and sorrow
Filled with selfishness and greed
There remains a holy fountain
To supply our every need
If you find it in the church house
With a welcome on the door
But be sure to count your blessings
Before you ask for more.
Thank God for every flower and each tree
Thank God for the mountains and the seas
Thank God for giving hope to you and me
Wherever you may be, Thank God.
Be forgiving to the wayward
Like the Master told us to
When He said forgive them Father
For they know not what they do
You might change their way of living
If they could but understand
So remember they’re your brothers
And give them a helping hand.
Thank God for every flower and each tree
Thank God for the mountains and the seas
Thank God for giving life to you and me
Wherever you may be, Thank God.
Thank God for every flower and each tree
Thank God for the mountains and the seas
Thank God for salvation that is free
Wherever you may be, Thank God.
Wherever you may be, Thank God.

Paul shared a video of this wonderful song earlier this week. You might have heard The Louvin Brothers singing the song or Hank Williams. They both recorded it.
It’s a beautiful song of thanks and I’m glad Paul decided to share it.
Hope you enjoyed the song!

Can’t pass up an opportunity to hear Christmas tunes from the area.
Beautiful music, I would enjoy a copy of the CD.
Loved the song! Paul you are awesome!
Praise the Lord for all things and prayers to Him for all those who have needs beyond our understanding. So sorry for the losses suffered by so many and may God give you comfort in knowing our loved ones are in His hands. Thank you God for saving my soul, thank you God for making me whole, thank you Lord for giving to me , Thy great salvation so rich and free. Amen. Paul the words in the song are so beautiful and so appropriately perfect, today and always. Love to you all for being there for me and all of us viewers. Everyone have a blessed week ahead.
Paul, I loved it, I played it several times. God’s blessings to you.
As always praying for Granny.
A beautiful song. I would love a copy of the cd. My favorite song is “Great is Thy Faithfulness”.
Praying for all these needs. There are so many things to be thankful for it’s hard to pinpoint one thing. But one of the things I’m most thankful for is answered prayers. Being able to talk to God and have a relationship with Him is such a privilege and blessing that we often take for granted. He has answered so many prayers for me I could never thank Him enough, but I will never stop trying. 🙂
Paul, you did a great job with this song. The lyrics are beautiful! Thank you!
Just had time to listen to this beautiful song. Perfect for Thanksgiving week or anytime. Thank you for sharing, Paul!
I love to hear Paul sing. We do have a lot to be thankful for.
Prayers for all our YouTube families and please remember our family in your prayers. I would love the CD.
Those are beautiful, heart felt lyrics. We all have a lot to be thankful for.
Pleasant song lyrics and music/voice. Thank you, Paul and Tipper. Can you imagine if we tried to count and give thanks for every breath and heartbeat He’s given us?
we have all been blessed way more then we deserve,,,thank you Lord
Norman, Praying for you and your brother!
Thanks for the reminder that we have so many things/reasons to give thanks. My wife and I both are enduring several health issues. BUT! we are still able to have plenty to eat, friends that care for us and a warm home. God has always blessed us with all we need and more.
Another “toe tapper” with a wonderful message. Thank you, Paul!
Amen ! Thank God , indeed ! Thank you for sharing the beautiful reminder ! Love & prayers for all !
I really like that song! I think it’s the first time I’ve heard it. I’d love to have the Christmas CD. I’ve been playing Christmas music on YouTube on my TV everyday while I’m doing chores but I’d rather hear pap and Paul than most of the music they have on the Christmas playlists!
I also have a prayer request – one of my husband’s employees that’s worked with him for most of his life suffered a stroke last night and is in the ICU at Mission unresponsive and they’ve found bloodclots allover his body. Keep him and his family in y’alls prayers please
Cassie, I’m sorry I will pray for him and his family.
I absolutely love Christmas music. It brings joy to my heart.
This is a wonderful song reminding us to be thankful in everything we do. I’m thanking God this morning to have gotten my mom to the ER in the nick of time. Her blood sugar was extremely low. Asking all you wonderful readers to lift up mom in your prayers. Been in the hospitals more than out the past 2 months.
Jill, God bless you! I’m so glad you got there in time. I will pray for her and for you!
I would love to have this CD. I’ve already started playing Christmas music and put up our tree.
What a lovely way to usher in the season of Advent.
I have wanted to buy that cd for few years now but since I do not have a way to play it I figure it to be kind of dumb to buy it lol It has turned cold here in OK like every where else–was in the twenties last night (put that with the wind and it would easily have been a two dog night)
what a lovely song Paul, Thank you for sharing it with us. I Thank God everyday for so many things, including the inspirational family I happened upon one day on YT.
Have an awesome day everyone!
I am ever thankful and blessed. I Praise GOD our Father for all of HIS Mercy and Grace. HE surely provides for me as if I were a tiny bird. I keep you all in my prayers. We may never meet here on this Earth but one day we will all greet one another in Paradise. I Love Y’all.
Nice song for the first morning of Advent.
Blessings to all!
Very good song! I love to hear Paul play and sing! I hope I win this CD!

Paul I’m thankful for you! Norman will continue praying for you and your brother.
Thank you, Paul, for sharing such a fitting song for this time of year. I thank God every day of the year for the many blessings He has given me. God bless Granny and her family.
I heard this beautiful song earlier this week and the words are so true. Thanks for sharing.
Count your blessings name them one by one, count your blessings see what God has done! I’m thankful every morning!
Thank you for this uplifting site, Tipper! I look forward to reading your newest entry each morning.
Good song Paul!
I am so thankful for all the blessings in my life…which are many for sure. Thank you Paul for this lovely song this morning. It is a wonderful beginning to a glorious day!
I love Christmas music.
Very well done. Will share this with my siblings. Have really enjoyed your YouTube channel Celebrating Appalachia, which we have started watching just a few weeks ago and have learned so much. My wife is from E TN and we love all the stories and phrases from Appalachia.
Love the Christmas song. Thank you Tipper.
This is a beautiful reminder to always be thankful and thank you for sharing it. This morning we are so thankful to have made it home safely after working at the Athenaeum’s Christkindle Market. We left during a horrible snowstorm and have to travel over 30 miles in it to get home. My husband drove and I prayed continually for our safety. The roads were beyond terrible as we traveled home, but we made it home and I am very grateful to Jesus for that.
Denise, I’m thankful you made it home too!
Thanks for this post today. I needed it. I tend to lose sight of the end by being focused on immediate circumstances. As the old preachers would say, “I’ve read the back of the book.” We know how all of this turns out. We know all we need to know, though it doesn’t seem so to us. As 1Thessalonians 5:18 says, “In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” No accident that the word is “in” and not “for” but it seems to take a lifetime to learn it.
Thank you Tipper and your family for providing joy and wonder and goodness to us readers everyday! I love Christmas music and hope to win the cd!
This was a perfect & beautiful song for today. Thank you, Paul !
“Always thank God ahead of time.” Blessed Solanus Casey
Wonderfully true words. I can’t be thankful enough.
This song reminded me that I should be more thankful for the many blessings that God has bestowed upon me. It also reminded me that I need to forgive in order to be forgiven. Paul has delivered an important message in this song. It is one that we can all benefit by if we follow it. God’s blessings on you, Tipper, Matt, and the rest of your family. Also, may God richly bless Paul and Granny. God has richly blessed Paul with a musical talent that provides me and others with much enjoyment. I continue to pray for each of you, especially Granny.
Beautiful! Thank you, Paul, and thank God!
My 69 year old brother-in-law passed away the morning after Thanksgiving. What an appropriate reminder to be thankful at all times. He was a wonderful guy who loved Jesus and exemplified kindness and gratitude every day. He was such a wonderful husband to my sister for 46 years. I’m grateful for his life this day. Thanks for sharing this, Tipper.♥️ Jane in SC
Oh Jane I’m so sorry! I will pray for your family.
Jane, your comment today reminds me of a dear friend, not today, but on the last two Sundays her husband of over 40 years and her brother both died one week apart. They were very good church going, church working, salt of the earth people. I am thankful for them being lifelong friends and knowing they were Christians. I will pray for you and your sister. I know the words of today’s song are true, but in times of death it can be hard to do. Both of them were about the same age as your brother in law. We also live in SC-Greenville County.
the poem is so true and beautiful. I hope all had a blessed Thanksgiving. Hold tight unto our loved ones. Give Granny a Big Jesus hug for me.
good morning, God bless Paul, I enjoy the songs he does, God bless Tipper and her family, God bless Granny Wilson in Jesus name, please pray for me and my brother, I am an Afib patient with some challenging times coming up, procedures that worry me and scare me, and my brother Bennie has adeno carcinoma stage four cancer, thank you and may the good Lord bless you and your family in Jesus name
Norman I will keep praying for you and your brother. God bless you both!
Norman we’ll be praying for you and your brother. Gods peace and healing.
Praying for you and your brother, Norman.
