The Blind Pig and The Acorn is fixed! Well at least I think it is 🙂 There’s a few more things to investigate, but over all things should be back to normal.

A few months back I discovered I need to update the theme of the blog.

A theme is sort of like your living room decor or the color scheme of your bathroom.

I still love the way the Blind Pig and The Acorn looks, but the internet seems to be changing at warp speed and my old furnishings don’t work with some of the changes coming in the next few months.

Instead of tackling the task myself, I hired a wonderful web designer to help me switch out the theme. Right away she discovered my backup program wasn’t working exactly right. We thought we could wait till the theme redesign was over before tackling the backup issue. We were wrong 🙂 But thankfully the fix we were forced to do seems to be working.

Hopefully in a few weeks when the theme switches over there’ll be minimum glitches on the site. I’ll be sure to let you know before the changes take place.

In the meantime if you notice anything amiss be sure to let me know in a comment or by emailing me at blindpigandtheacorn@gmail.com.

  1. Yay!! So glad the blog is back up and running. Reading Blind Pig and the Acorn is my go to for unwinding and relaxing. I love reading all the comments too and usually forget to comment after reading them all. Tell granny her sweaters are absolutely beautiful. I bet she could make a small fortune selling those on Etsy or Poshmark, they are always in high demand. Those peaches Pastor Lon and his wife sent ya home with look incredibly delicious!!

  2. I’m glad you are back up and running! I love technology but it can give you fits at times! Thank you for sharing your Appalachian life with us.

  3. So glad you got it fixed, Tipper!! I missed you!
Sat at home by myself this Labor Day Holiday
& missed you terribly. It’s always like you & I are having our coffee together. I have insomnia since Covid & can’t go to sleep until 7, 8 or 9 in the morning most times. So, I read & post a comment later in the day a lot. Hope you & your family had a good Labor Day Holiday. I love the popsicle breaks & you & Matt chatting. Simple times are the best!

  4. What a welcome sight! Our phones are still not back after a terrible storm last Monday that put out the power in the area for 3 days. I was surprised to get our internet back as quickly as we did. Good to get back to some kind of normalcy.

  5. It is always something! Have my fingers crossed that all will work out for you and your blog followers. Everyone misses you when you are gone. Bless your hard work, and “Thank You” for it.

  6. I am so glad you are back! I always look forward to what you are sharing with us each day and all the comments also. Welcome back!! You were missed!!

  8. So glad you are back. I read your blog while I am eating breakfast. Now I can start my day. right!!! Take care and God bless ❣️

  9. I too don’t often leave a comment but I missed starting my day with you and your family. My first cup of tea just didn’t taste the same. Felt like I’d got up on the wrong side of the bed. Sun’s shining here again and Tippers back. Hallelujah!

  10. Tipper I haven’t been following you for very long, but these last weeks I’ve grown very fond and appreciative of your posts. Though I was California born and now live in Utah, my Daddy and Mother’s origins and roots run deep throughout GA and NC. Many Scot-Scot/Irish settling ancestors. You’re the first one I’ve heard to know what it means when it’s ‘airish’ outside lolol. (A term which I use today) I loved Alex Stewart, but was truly in love with Dorie. Thank you for being my new buddy, and for all of your efforts and transparency.

  11. One thing I believe you can be sure of, however long you are offline most of us will be here when you are back up. You have the thing many on the web just wish they had and that is loyalty. You created it first and then we created some more among ourselves.

  12. I’ve been reading The Blind Pig and The Acorn for about 2 years. I don’t recall seeing a post of how the Blind Pig and The Acorn got its name. Would you please tell the story.
    Thank You

  13. We have hung out together on this blog too long to let you disappear. Sadly your blog went down about the time my phone started acting up. Also, messenger hacked recently. I thought it was some kind of plot to drive this ole lady mad. 🙂 A new provider bought out Sprint, and my experience has not been good when I use my hot spot. Who has time for technology to get glitchy? Anyway, I somehow tracked you, then lost you again. Welcome home with your readers!

    1. Sorry you have had all the issues on here lately, but glad you are getting everything fixed and back to normal. I may not comment on every post on here but I read them all. They are such a blessing and inspiration to me.
      Thank You Miss Tipper!! ❤️

  14. Wheeeee! The Blind Pig has regained its sight! Seriously, we are overjoyed that some of your web trials may be over. Good luck. If that doesn’t work, a gaggle of your vlog followers could get together and picket their place until they get it fixed right.

  15. Seems like my first comment didn’t get posted, most likely due to me, it just said I have also missed you over the last several days. I am usually up or awake by 6 am ever morning and your email will be posted at that time. It is the first thing I look for. I was reminded of this old saying- you don’t miss the water until the well runs dry.

My other comment was meant to tease Denise.

  16. Up and running! Exactly what I got to do this morning! So glad to start the day with friends here in the blog. I may not always comment but try never to miss even when I have to do a Blind Pig and the Acorn marathon because I’ve had a busy week and need to catch up! God bless and see you in the next one!

  17. I’m glad your back up and running normal with your website! I’m also looking forward to see how you will redesign the site. Just make sure it still reflexes your wonderful personality, because you present the Appalachia culture beautifully.

  18. Internet stuff makes me crazy. We use computers all the time at the hospital…oh I wish sometime we were back with written Dr orders and lab requests. It does have it’s good points though.
On a different note. I made the cucumber relish that was on your U tube channel. I played the segment and watched as I prepared it. It is so good. I canned 7 half pint jars to start to try it. It was almost like there were 3 of us in my kitchen. I can’t remember the ladies name….Betty Jean I think. Tell her I appreciate her recipe

  19. Happy to hear nothing sinister was going on. Things on the internet are changing rapidly. But we are thrilled to know we are going to have Blind Pig & The Acorn fully restored. A morning without Tipper is worse than no coffee.

  20. I spent the last three days sick in bed. I didn’t feel well enough to write a comment on anything, but I sure missed reading your blog!! I kept checking all the time for it. Glad you are back!! You are missed when you are not around!

    Donna. : )

  21. Great news, and a fine way to start a new month.

Miss Tipper, your YouTube episodes are just getting better and better.
I especially like “the Popsicle Segment”. The honesty and plans you share with Matt are what’s missing in married couples today. You certainly complement each other.

Best of Luck in all future projects.

  22. Don’t you worry about a thing, Miss Tipper! There’s a plenty of praying folks who have your back!!! I can’t stop obstacles, trials and temptations, but I KNOW the Only One who can get us through and on the other side safely!!! Thank you, Lord, for all your mercy and compassion and for seeing our dear friend through on her wonderful blog update!!! It’s like a plane taking off- up, up and Away!!! The views only get better from here!!!

      1. Denise, I have said on here I dearly love to tease, joke or as I call it cut up. You can be mean with your teasing or just do it for fun, I hope no one ever accuses me of being mean. I don’t know if you are aware of this, but my wife died during surgery on April 15th of 2021. Between marriage and the time we went together ( Jan 1972 and married Oct.26 1974) almost 50 years. She was 16 and I was 17 when it begin, look at our age when we married. My eyes locked on her one Sunday night at church and never left until she left me for God. Tipper is the only one on the blog that knows this, I have been told by every doctor I have seen during for the last few weeks about my eye problem that there was a lot of things that could cause it, one being age but in my case stress has played a huge part with me. I don’t have the words to describe the depression, anxiety, worry, stress etc. that I have been having since her death. We were just two very plain and simple country kids that fell in love and wanted to live our life together. God truly blessed me when he let me have her (Janice) for my wife. Tears are running down my cheeks right now as I write about here. They didn’t come any than her. Read either Proverbs chapter 35 or 37 about a virtuous women and you will be reading about Janice. I hope that is the correct scripture, sometimes I get it wrong. Denise, I just want to be sure you know I was joking.

        1. Rest assured, I know you are joking! Yes teasing can be mean hearted, but there was nothing like that in your comment. I read your comment to my husband this morning and your tribute to your wife is so touching. I would feel the same way if I ever lose my husband, Fred. We have been together 36 years and married soon to be 33. You’re in our prayers for healing for your eyes, peace during what is still a difficult time since the loss of your lovely wife. Take care and God be with you!

  23. Ahhh, technology, the wonderful love/hate relationship we can have with it. Can’t live without it or with it sometimes! Good to see you back up and running, hopefully everything will run smoothly now.

  24. Goodness, you were gone a long time. It does not matter what you do or how you have to do it, we will be ready when you are. I am sure I am not the only one that missed you and whatever you pass on to us faithful followers. You have not mentioned in a bit when you are expecting to have your cookbook finished, but we are looking forward that as well. As long as you and Keurig hang in there, I will be here in the mornings. God Bless.

  25. I’m so glad you are back! I missed you! Every morning I have tea and Blind Pig! I mean every morning!! Somehow my tea just isn’t the same without the Blind Pig!
    Welcome home!
