Hickory Stand playing at JCCFS
Today’s post is short on text and long on music 🙂 Paul’s band Hickory Stand played at Martins Creek Community Center last week. They did a wonderful job!
I hope you enjoyed the harmony singing and music as much as I do.
During the summer months the community center hosts a monthly gospel singing. Hotdogs and hamburgers are available for purchase. The money earned helps the community center pay the light bill. The singing take place on the third Saturday of the month, however there will not be one in July.

Thank you for the beautiful songs and guitar playing. I enjoyed your band very much. I especially loved the last song. I still remembered every word from when I was a kid in our little country church. I still go to a small country church, but we have never sung this particular song that I can remember. I hope the concert helped generate a lot of hotdog and hamburger sales for the community center.
awe, enjoyed your concert & the message. Thankyou Paul.
Wonderful concert!
Tipper. Question for you. I recently watched the YouTube episode where you went to Chastain
Family Farm and helped with the putting up of hot tomato pickles. I wrote everything down as
they looked yummy. I did have a question though and it was probably my dumbness that missed
the point… but on day 1 they mixed the salt and water and brought it to a boil. They let it cool
overnight. Then the next day they jar’d the tomatos and okra etc… and added the vinegar to the
salt water and re-boiled before adding… Just to be sure I understood… they did not boil the salt
water on day 1 with the tomatos in there… right? I think they were all on the tables washed and
ready to be cut up and jar’d the next day… Just wanted to be sure it was just salt water they were
boiling and letting cool over night… Again – I probably missed something but wanted to be sure.
Thank you! Enjoy watching. Gary Cooper – Yukon Oklahoma
Gary, here’s the recipe written out: https://blindpigandtheacorn.com/pickled-green-tomatoes-okra-peppers/ You are right the first day they only boiled the salt and water. Gerald said one time he tried doing it all in the same day and it didn’t turn out well so he went back to doing the first step the day before 🙂
Enjoyed this singing and playing!!!!!
What a treat! Praying for Papaw Tony!
