Today I’m sharing the first series of winners from this year’s Thankful November Giveaways. If you see your name please send your mailing address to me at blindpigandtheacorn @ gmail.com and I will send you your book.

The winner of Mommy Goose Nursery Rhymes is Beth Klug who said: “Tipper-I’ve been reading Blind Pig and the Acorn for several months now with great enjoyment. I feel like I’ve gotten to know you and your family and all the folks who leave comments, so figured it was about time to join in. I’ve started reading back from the beginning, as well as keeping up with current postings. Love all the stories, history, recipes and music. So many of your stories take me back to my own childhood. So this November, I’m especially thankful to have found this site. Cheers from southern Missouri Ozarks!”

The winner of Dorie Woman of the Mountains is Donna Brewton who said: “I absolutely loved listening to you read Dorie to us! To have the book would be so nice. Thank you for sharing. DB”

The winner of The Foxfire Book is Barbara Ramsey who said: “I felt like I could hear the writer actually speaking to me. It’s true, you have no regrets when you’ve taken care of a loved one.”

The winner of More Than Moonshine is Richard who said: “Good story! I can’t add anything to comment but enter me please in the drawing for the book. God bless”

The winner of The Doll Maker is Deborah Roy who said: “I would love to read The Dollmaker.”

The winner of The Tall Woman is Linda Toms who said: “I love The Blind Pig. It is like balm to my soul. You are precious people with many wonderful stories to tell and lessons to impart. I tried finding “The Tall Woman” at my library but they don’t have it. They do have “Family of Earth” by Wilma Dykeman on their list of books to request for purchase. My grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins all hold a special place in my memory that remind me of your family.”

The winner of the second Dorie Woman of the Mountains is Jane ODell who said: “I loved your reading of that book. When I started reading this post, I thought it sounded like Dorie. By the way, I love this collection of pictures at the top. The placement and content is perfect. Continuing prayers for you all.”

Congratulations to all the winners! Don’t forget to email me your mailing address.

  4. Tipper, it’s so generous of you to give away books. I’m happy for everyone who is getting one. I just ordered a book through Kindle Unlimited called “Christmas Presence: from 45 western North Carolina women writers” by Celia H. Miles (Editor) and Nancy Dillingham (Editor). My plan is for this to be part of my Christmas reading. It says much of the book is set in the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s. I’m looking forward to starting it this next week when I’ve finished the book I’m now reading. Have you heard of this book?

  14. We enjoy you snd your family so much. We were able to meet you in Hendersonville NC. I love your readings so much, snd every book mentioned sends me on a search to find it! I love thrifting and I’m always looking for Appalachian publications that suit my interests. I’ve wanted to say, “ we have always said “ case knife.” Haha! Thanks for your sweet, christian outlook.

  15. I’m an “Appalachian transplant”…I got here as fast as I could and have realized recently that I’ve now spent more of my life here than anywhere else. I do love these mountains and my husband teased me just last night that it sure took me awhile to “find my place” but when I did, I settled in BIG TIME! We live in his grandparents’ 128 year old cabin and I cannot imagine being more “at home” than I am now.

  16. We are all winners! By the luck of the draw some winners get books! Congratulations to those whom luck landed upon today! I’m not going to comment today because I already own Appalachian Values. The book was gifted me a long time ago by a special friend. Of the most treasured things I have accumulated over my lifetime it is in competition for first place with only a few others, also gifted by the that same special friend!

  17. Congratulations to all the winners thus far.
I definitely want to know more about Appalachia. My daughter and family live in Charlotte and when I come to visit, I really like to head to the mountains to enjoy the environment and the people who live there.

  23. Congratulations to all the winners. You are very thoughtful and generous to offer this opportunity to win one of your recommended features. I hope to see my name in the winners circle too. (smile)! Just watching and hearing and learning from your Blind Pig and the Acorn makes me a winner every day!

  24. Hi Tipper:
Although I do read your blog faithfully, I have never left a comment, of course, I watch all the videos and your daughters are a delight, We live oceans apart but I have grown up with quite similar Appalachian values and I am so very grateful for that, this goes to show how very much we are connected, my greatest hope is that these strong values are instilled in my children and future generations.

  25. Hope I’m not being a spoiler when I give someone a peek inside “Appalachian Values”. Loyal Jones was a professor at Berea College in Berea, Ky. The town sits just west of the edge of the Cumberland Plateau. The book has black and white pictures of the terrain just east of town, on Owsley (may be spelled wrong) Fork. I lived in Berea many years ago and we liked to drive out to that area in the evenings. It was a way to see the hills we came from, the hills Harriet Simpson Arnow wrote of in ” Mountain Path”.

  26. WooHoo! Congratulations to all the winners! I’m excited for you all! Thankful for you Tipper and all the readers that comment because I enjoy reading both the blog and comments.

  27. May all the winners enjoy each and every book shared; thanks for being so gracious to the readership. The memories shared of life in Appalachia are priceless • our thoughts and prayers continue for Granny, you, and all the family, Tipper …….

  28. Congrats to all the winners. Thank you for sharing the results with us. I look forward to continue reading your posts and mostly watching your videos.

  29. Congratulations to all the winners, and I want to enter to win a book by someone named Loyal Jones–a truly wonderful name!

  30. Appalachian values are often a discussion at our house. Living in a different area of the country for a long time. values are not the same as they were in the mountains. I would love to have this book to read and share with my children.

  31. YEAH !!!! I’m heading home for Thanksgiving !!! Get to spend some quality time with my 97 year old mom and the rest of the family. So, as I drive into Haywood County, I’ll throw my hand up in your direction. Since I only have access to the internet at work, I’m always playing catch up with The Blind Pig. I won’t read you till I get back . So all of you and your readers have a great Thanksgiving and drive safe.

  32. Congratulations to all the winners!! And Paula, I am with you on the jealous thing…hahaha! I love the Blind Pig and all its readers and their comments. I look forward to the post everyday. Please give us an update on how little Momma is doing….hoping all is well with Momma and baby. Love and prayers to all of you and Granny, too.

  33. Appalachian Values sounds like a book I’d love to read. God bless you and your family. Congratulations to all the winners.

  34. Congratulations to the winners. Thank you, Tipper for your generosity. I just love watching your videos every day. There are a lot! I wonder how often you and your family are recognized on the street now that you are You Tube famous!

  35. Tipper, you introduced me to Loyal Jones and I am glad that you did. I went to the library and they only had one of his books: My Curious and Jocular Heroes: Tales and Tale-Spinners from Appalachia Tales and Tale-Spinners from Appalachia. I sat down and read it right through, laughing and smiling. I needed that!

  36. Unashamed to say the God and Tipper start my day, gives me something to look forward to after logging in at work, just don’t tell the boss

  37. Congratulations to all the winners, but the way I see it WE ARE ALL WINNERS! If you wake up every day, find the reasons to keep living, going and trying then in my opinion that’s what makes a winner! Ain’t nobody who has to tell me I’m a winner cause I already know I won the day I got saved in Christ Jesus! As for books, I’ve read so many my eyes should have crossed and reviewed nursing textbooks til I was seeing double. By the way my alma mater is shutting its doors forever due to wreck less bookkeeping and numbers cooking. Goodbye Alderson-Broaddus! You priced yourself right on out of business! Now the ONLY book I recommend is THE HOLY BIBLE. It never gets old or not exciting to my soul! Y’all have a good one- every single one of ya here and blessings to Granny Louzine, the sick, infirmed, or just ordinary crazy depressed or disgusted! Amen

  38. At one time there was a discounted shipping rate if you were sending books. Not sure anymore, but worth investigating when, today, every penny counts!

  39. Congratulations to all the lucky winners of Tipper’s books. But, we are all winners and so lucky to have Tipper and her family in our lives each day. I start my day off first thing each morning checking in to get my dose of Appalachia!

  40. Congratulations to all of you blessed winners. Win or lose, Tippers post are always so delightful and bring up so many sweet memories. Have a blessed day everyone.

  41. Happy for all those who won! Have always thought mountain people and farmers were, in some way, closer to the very land they depend on for survival. Would love to have a copy of today’s book.
    Carolyn

  42. Two of my favorite things, Appalachian Values and used books! Thank you Tipper for sharing so many things with us. From reading books, to sharing values, recipes, and songs, I enjoy it all! Hugs and prayers to Granny, because I’m pretty sure I love her most of all.

  43. I don’t think my post went through so I’m sending it again. Congrats to all, prayers for those who asked . prayers for Granny and Katie

  44. Congratulations to all the winners. You all have some good reading coming your way.
I’m not familiar with Loyal Jones writings so I’ll be doing some research on Appalachian Values. Sounds interesting.
Everyone have a great day. Get outside and enjoy this beautiful weather. Blessings to all.

  45. So happy for all the winners! prayers for the folks who asked and for our country. Prayers also for Granny and for sweet Katie that her pregnancy remains smooth and your grand baby is as hearty as his grandparents. I get worn out just watching all you do! Happy Thanksgiving!

  46. Are you giving up videos in the kitchen, those are by far what we love! We have checked in eagerly each night for a couple of weeks looking for a cooking video. I know things have to change (sadly) just hoping you’re not and you’ll be back cooking with us soon, please, please, please!

  47. Good morning Tipper. I am so happy for all the winners this morning. Congratulations to everyone! I don’t know how you have the time to do it all. I am up early this morning so I can read my bible and your blog and head to my son’s house to play with two granddaughters while their mommy takes the baby to a well check appointment. I am going there so their mommy doesn’t have to get them up and dressed so early. It’s gonna be another beautiful day—and I plan on enjoying every minute of it!

  48. pray for my brother David, he took me to Walmart last night, he had a seizure, God bless you friends!!

    1. You got it friend! Lord, please be with Brother David as we believe together in Christ Jesus there will be no more seizures and David’s brain will be completely restored! Hallelujah, we praise and thank you as we believe together in one accord David has been delivered! Amen and thank you, Lord!

  49. Congrats Winner, you are truly winners. Having Blind Pig in my email box is an email I so look forward to starting my day with. God Bless.

  50. I would like to have the book about Appalachian Values. I feel like my values are a lot like the paragraph about Appalachian Values I read a few days ago by Loyal Jones.
