My mother was the daughter of a school teacher. She was always correcting our English. Crunk was my mother’s least favorite word. It was often used by my Daddy. Sometimes, I feel, he did it a purpose. LOL
I’ve heard “soaking up suds” referring to benge beer drinking. I guess it would apply to just about any beverage you overindulged in.
I recently overheard, Are you going to the funeral? Yes. Where is it? Catlettsburg, in the big white house that looks like a southern mansion. Now, do you know where it’s at? No, can’t picture it.
I do that, use ‘drunk’ instead of ”drank’. Somehow it is just more correct-sounding to me. I once did that in the company of our daughter’s schoolteacher mother-in-law. Our daughter corrected me and I felt like I had to acknowledge for her sake that I realized I had departed from ‘standard’ English. That was not so long ago but since then she has changed and doesn’t correct me. But for my part I try to avoid embarrassing her. I would take any number of being embarrassed rather than embarrass her. She will outgrow it, maybe has already.
Overheard many times in the mountains, boy your a Doozie.
