Here’s more winners from the Thankful November giveaways. If you see your name please send your mailing address to me at blindpigandtheacorn @ gmail.com

The winner of the cd “Lamp Lighting Time” is Randy who said: “The gang did a good job as always with the song. A lot of people said Ernest Tubb would never die until my father in law died. Ernest was his favorite country music singer and he would sound like him when he played and sung. Around here most of the older people still say pocketbook instead of purse and I have sometimes heard a man’s billfold called a pocketbook.”

The winner of Roaming the Mountains is Sharon Cole who said: “When I was growing up we had Grandma’s Molasses. My mother made the best biscuits and we would make a hole in the top of the biscuit and pour the molasses in. So good! I would enjoy this book. My husband and I enjoyed last night’s video so much. December 10 will be our 50th wedding anniversary. We were also very serious about our wedding vows! You and Matt are a beautiful couple. Take care and God bless.”

The winner of Chatter’s two pumpkins is Nan who said: “I enjoy your videos and blog very much, I also enjoy The Pressley Girls videos too. Especially the adventures of Olive the dog! Love the pumpkins! Thanks for all you and your family do.”

The winner of It’s Not My Mountain Anymore is Cathy L. Sparks who said: “With my dad being the youngest boy (he had 1 younger sister) out of 15 children. I wonder if Mammy ever used syrup and a feather. I’m sure she had lots of tricks but I know the older children helped rear the younger ones. I can’t even fathom 15 children!”

The winner of Appalachian Spring is John Hart who said: “I have always lived in the city, but love country places and the air.”

  4. I love it! Have you tried making the pumpkins by rolling up a flannel shirt then tying strings to make the pumpkins bubbled edges? 7. The pumpkin reminds me of my granny. She made all kinds of crocheted items, but never any pumpkins. She taught me how to sew beginning when I was about 5 years old & could barely hold the needle much less thread it or properly knot it. But by age 10 I was cutting my own newspaper patterns for my doll clothes & helping her with quilting. I still love quilting & would love to see any old quilts you have photos of. My granny died in 1980, but I still have the laundry bag she made for me to take to college & the house slippers she crocheted for me & of course the the quilt (Granny’s flower garden pattern) she made for me when I got married in 1979. I would love to have the pumpkin. I wish I could crochet like she does but I guess I lost what skill I had by concentrating on quilting.

  8. Congratulations to all the winners!! Enjoy, enjoy! Tipper, I wish a Healthy, Safe & Happy Thanksgiving to you, your family & all the Blind Pig & the Acorn family! Warmest regards to all from Mississippi.

  16. Tipper, I am happy to have won the cd. I know I will enjoy it. My wife and daughter both would have loved to have had one of the pumpkins, seems like a lot of others like them too, maybe she should start making and selling them. My sentiments are like the other Randy’s, luckily I still get to enjoy the closeness of my wife’s family, they still include me into all of their get togethers. Nearly all of my family have passed on. Tipper, I appreciate everything you do for the members of your blog.

  28. As we near Thanksgiving, Tipper, I am thankful for you and the work you’re doing not only to preserve Appalachia but to preserve the “old ways” of life that seem to be dying out faster than a comet. I love the devotion you all have to each other and taking care of your sweet Mom, who I always enjoy reading about. I appreciate more than you’ll ever know you sharing the story of my Papa Clent earlier in the year. If this move and reno will ever be over, I hope to share more. Here’s wishing you, The Deer Hunter, Chitter, Chatter and your Mom a very healthy and blessed Thanksgiving. Even in spite of how crazy our world seems to have gotten, we still have so very much to be thankful for. Best, Randy
