The Pressley Girls and Paul and Tipper

We had a great time playing at the Historic Union County Courthouse in Blairsville GA last week. Its one of our favorite places to play. The acoustics are great and the crowd is always receptive and energized.

Comedy has come to play a huge role in The Pressley Girls sets and I think we enjoy the laughter as much as the crowd does. Chitter really had the audience going that night. Here’s a peek into the show. (I forgot to set the focus so it jumps around a bit-hopefully its not too annoying.)

I hope you enjoyed the comedy and the music.

  1. Well, I lost it for good this time. I was, as is my usual practice, jumping around BP articles, trying to catch up on postings from the last few days, found some music where Paul and Pap were singing something about “the woods” I tried to go back and listen to it again, but couldn’t. I’ll just have to blame Chitter and her talk about the spilt water, the towel and the banana peel for distracting me (June Carter never did a comedy routine better.) But I still can’t find that music. I bet that if I just have a mess of soup beans, taters and some good, lard-fried cornbread, my mind will be restored!

  2. That was great! My hubby and I really enjoyed it all! Tell Chitter to be careful eating too many bananas in one day. A lady I worked with LOVED bananas and had eaten a bunch then she stared feeling sick, she went to the hospital and she had an overload of potassium from the bananas!

  3. Tipper,
The first song “If I Could Hear My Mother Pray Again” is my Favorite. Of all the many songs you all sing, I think that one”s the Best. I enjoyed the Comedy Sketches too. Seems the more Chitter talks, the more the crowd gets into it. Both girls are true Appalachian! Sorry I missed it! …Ken

  4. I enjoyed the music and the comedy. The song “If I Could Hear My Mother Pray” brought tears to my eyes. Mama was a wonderful person loved by everyone.

  5. That Chitter does have a knack for ad libbing and Chatter knows just how to keep her going. The two of them together are quite entertaining. Paul seems a bit taken aback by them sometimes but he manages to keep up. You are not in the picture so I can only imagine you shaking your head and saying “I don’t know them! They were hitchhiking up the road and we picked them up!”

  6. Thanks for letting me have a listen, making a morning special before I head out to church, thanks for sharing , loved every bit of that, especially the comedy,

  7. Delightful, Tipper!…..It won’t be long before Mary and I will be able to come see y’all play and sing…..Mary and I bought a home in the Blairsville area…..Hope to move there by mid November.

  8. Chatter is well named, she sure can roll when she gets going. I love to watch how she free associates and you can never guess what might come out of her mouth next!
