Ain’t a ramrod what they used to push a patch and ball down the barrel of a gun after they pour in the powder. Does that mean you have to do the dangerous stuff? Are you not at the mercy of the man on the trigger?
Hope you all have fun!
It takes a strong and tenacious person to keep encouraging/motivating/prodding/pushing along others to get some things done!!
I have heard it many many times in my life but not in a while. I can hear my my dad saying someone was the “ramrod” up at the mill. I remember hearing the word used in the cowboy movies and shows I watched as a kid like Wagon Train, The Virginian and Bonanza. If you were the ramrod you were a supervisor or boss. Straw boss was another term I remember. I think a straw boss was not much more than a regular worker maybe a little more responsibility but not much if any more pay.
We hope to get over to the festival tomorrow if we do we’ll be sure catch one of the shows.
I recall hearing that, though it has been awhile. I guess to be a ramrod one would have to have some stiff spine.
That sounds like something Granny would say!
