1. Chitter has been making the absolute coolest bracelets. They’re made with wire and lava rock beads. Why lava rock beads? Since lava rocks are porous they work wonderful with essential oils. Put a drop or two of your favorite essential oil on the bead(s) and presto you’ve got a way to take the calming or invigorating oil with you through the day. My favorite part of the bracelet is the easy way it fastens. The easy fastening mechanism also allows the bracelet to better fit your wrist. If you’d like a bracelet of your own jump over to Chitter’s Stamey Creek Creations Etsy Shop and pick one up. She has two different options-each one comes in two sizes. Follow the links below to pick up your own bracelet.

2. The warm weather has bloomed out pretty much every early spring flower, bush, and tree in our area. And the warm weather has also had snakes out and crawling. Don’t remember ever having to chase a snake out of my flower bed in February. (click on the video above to see the snake and click on it again to stop the video)

best-photo-ever

3. I was looking for a certain picture the other day. I knew the last time I saw it was about four computers ago. I drug out all my old photo cds and spent half the day looking for it. I never found the photo, but I did find one of my all time favorite ones that I had totally forgotten about. That’s it above. I have no idea why I like it so much. I’m pretty sure I didn’t even take it on purpose. I love the expression on Chitter’s face and the way Ruby Sue’s tongue is hanging out like she’s just been running a butterfly and best of all is the weird looking deer target in the background.

Reina-del-Cid4. It’s been several years since my nephew Ben sent me a video of Reina del Cid. He thought the girls would like her music. They didn’t, but I fell for her voice and her mannerisms. One of my favorite songs is an original she wrote called “The Cooling”. It’s really kinda gruesome, but it speaks to me somehow. If meaningful gruesomeness isn’t your thing check out her peppy upbeat version of the classic “Jambalaya“.

5. The Deer Hunter has had gas grills in the past, but we haven’t had one for a least four years now. He says he doesn’t want a new one because any we could afford would be junk the day we brought it home. He always figures out a way to grill when he wants too. His current method is building a fire inside an old charcoal grill.

  1. What a pretty little snake that corn snake is! I have garter snakes in my gardens and happy to have them, though I always jump when they startle me, same as I jump when a toad or frog startles me. I just startle easy, I guess! Last summer I had to persuade Moxie the Kitten to give me the large garter snake she had in her mouth – I was afraid she’d get bit on the face, for one thing. And when Moxie let go of it, that snake was mad at ME! I tried to shoo it off and it wanted to stay right there and give me a piece of it’s mind first.

  2. Katie makes some beautiful stuff. I wouldn’t wear it myself but I have a beautiful daughter who does. I don’t really care about the lava stuff but I always have my eye out for what I want. I bought Missy a copper chain that Katie had created with copper leaves and some copper earrings to match it. I asked Katie to make a bracelet to match the necklace and earrings which she did within a week or ten days. I think Little Joey might have done most of it though.
If you had mentioned Reina del Sid last week I wouldn’t have know who you were talking about but over the weekend I stumbled on a video of her and the other Josh Turner and I was impressed by her and the lady who plays guitar with her Toni Lindgren. Reina is only a stage name. I don’t know yet what her real name is.
Reina seems to have a little bit of a speech impediment which seems no hindrance at all. In fact it enhances her performance. She reminds me of Macyn Taylor although it takes both Reina and Toni to reach Macyn’s level.

  3. Your corn snake was interesting. Brought back childhood memories of the day my grandmother created 13 wriggling pieces of garter snake with a her hoe in about 3.1 seconds. If snake hoeing were an Olympic event grannie Reed would have a world record and a gold medal. She just could not abide a snake.

  4. Tipper,
I believe it when you say it’s a Corn Snake, but it looks kinda like our Mountain Rattlers. And I love the picture of Chitter and Ruby Sue a long time ago. Both Chitter and Chatter are a Gift.

I watched Billy Graham’s body place in the Rotunda today and I loved the “Slow Salute”, an emotional thing for me. Billy’s call for everyone was “God Loves You.” …Ken

  5. I can’t stand snakes. I picked up a tiny one while cleaning out a flower bed years ago. Didn’t know it till i dumped everything. so creepy!

Our abnormal weather is worrying me. My peonies are coming up and it’s way too soon. They are way over 40 yrs old and I would hate to lose them. Fruit trees are about to leaf out. I really need some pears this yr. so maybe it’ll be ok.

Can’t get the garden dry enough to till so I’ve planted lettuce in several flower pots. I’m determined to have some lettuce & onions this year.

  6. I had a gas grill for a few years but prefer the charcoal. I buy one about every 5-6 years when the bottom burns out. They might last longer if I kept them inside. Sometimes I add hickory wood for a little different taste.

  7. Good Morning, Tipper!…..Well, you were right about the gruesome part of Reina del Cid’s song…..But I loved the composition and instrumentals…..I like how she sings, would love to hear her put together a lighter, brighter song of Spring about now!

  8. I hate snakes! I thought it was a copperhead. Thought poisonous snakes had triangular heads. If I was down South and out walking you better believe I would be looking down where I was stepping. Where I live I don’t have to do that but I would if i went up into the mountains of this area. I did jump down to “Jambalaya” and she is pretty good although I must say that other young girl can really play that guitar.

  9. That is the neatest idea for a bracelet! And I think it is great that Chitter has a wide range of price, materials and design. I read the reviews to and she makes people happy with how she treats them.

I’m glad the snake got identified. I have never seen a corn snake. They are really pretty. I saw a milk snake once. They are very pretty to.

I am with the Deer Hunter. There are so many things that are not made to last. So frustrating. Our pastor has a Traeger grill. They use wood pellets so they both smoke and cook. They are expensive though.
